@DFofFreedom No, I haven't had time to do much parameter space exploration. That's one reason why it's here as a possible explanation rather than a full model description and exploration. I didn't want to write something like "here's a problem but I can't even offer a possible solution".

Bit late on this, but looks interesting. We predict trade-offs between behavioural traits but often don't find them, and "the inconsistency between data and theory represents a major failure in our understanding of behavioral evolution" @DochtermannLab
