Tony Popović made two extremely gutsy selections. He dropped Australia’s two most senior players for a 21 year old and a 22 year old - both playing in the A-League and with 8 caps combined. They both totally vindicated the decision. Paul Okon-Engstler and Pat Beach were immense.

Family is everything. Probably one of the favourite interviews of my career. Proud Dad. Proud Son. Paul Okon-Engstler living the @FIFAWorldCup dream is father never got to do. A special moment in @Socceroos history.

@elissiacar @FIFAWorldCup @Channel9 @Socceroos I get it & I agree. But also league + swimming they have the rights for so it does make sense that they promote those hard. Doesn’t excuse the fact they should be dedicating some time to a once every 4 year event that is arguably bigger than the olympics in many metrics.

@katiehind Not wondering at all, no. It's very obviously to save money. If the BBC had gone down the ITV route and hired/built a studio in a prime location with a Manhattan backdrop, the Mail/Telegraph would be demanding someone write a column expressing faux outrage about that

A FIFA World Cup host country must guarantee two fundamental principles: the safety of the country — and the unrestricted entry of all qualified teams, officials and referees. The case of referee Omar Artan from Somalia is against one of these obligations. FIFA must never compromise the universality of football. #Fifa #Somalia #GianniInfantino #CAF #OmarAtan #DonaldTrump
