My first steps in Oaxaca - Call to Sunrise and Prayers Arrived last night on a bus from Puebla. A joyous rain washing the town. Oh, is the Mexican countryside stunning! Checked into my place, and went to bed. Woke up before the Sun, being pulled out the door, where? My feet know. I land in the main courtyard to the Santo Domingo Cathedral! Amazing! Sun rising, and this is where people have told me to go….and here I am! But the doors are closed. The sun breaks over the Church and lands on the courtyard with the songs of birds. I sit down in the Sun on a stone bench that has had hundreds of years on me…….I’m the newcomer. Then…..the doors open…..and ……. First time I’ve ever made a video of….the first time walking into a Cathedral, but here it is. My first steps into San Domingo. The advice I was given, “walk into the Cathedral, take a few steps, then look up. So I did……….. ………then I found a little cafe, to sit down, and let it all settle. Wow! That’s it……wow!
Israel must immediately repeal the discriminatory death penalty law passed today by the Knesset, as it contravenes Israel’s obligations under international law. The United Nations opposes the death penalty under all circumstances. The implementation of this new law would violate international law's prohibition of cruel, inhuman or degrading punishment. Additionally, this law further entrenches Israel’s violation of the prohibition of racial segregation and apartheid as it will exclusively apply to Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and Israel, who are often convicted after unfair trials. Not even apartheid South Africa codified executions for only one ‘race group’. Israel is now the most racist state the world has ever known. Shame on every government, every company, every individual who offer it support.
J’apporte mon plein soutien au patriarche latin de Jérusalem et aux chrétiens de Terre Sainte, empêchés de célébrer la messe des Rameaux au Saint-Sépulcre. Je condamne cette décision de la police israélienne, qui s’ajoute à la multiplication préoccupante des violations du statut des Lieux Saints de Jérusalem. Le libre exercice du culte à Jérusalem doit être garanti pour toutes les religions.
