Assis da Angola Nobrega is a 12th-grade student in Bocoio, Angola,a region long affected by drought. In his community, water has always been a daily concern, something families think about constantly. Growing up, Assis saw how limited access to clean water shaped everyday life. Time was spent searching, waiting, and managing scarcity. But things changed when a borehole was installed in his community. Now, water is closer. Days are more predictable. There is more time for school, for routines, for simply moving forward. Assis shares a simple wish: that more communities can experience this same change. 💧 Learn more about ForAfrika’s work in Angola and how you can support access to safe water: forafrika.org #WorldWaterDay #ForAfrika #WaterForAll #WhereWaterFlowsEqualityGrows

In Hammanskraal, South Africa, water did not come easily. For years, families relied on an intermittent government supply, never certain when water would be available, and often adjusting their days around it. Things began to shift when a local farmers’ association, supported by ForAfrika, installed a new water system. Pipes were laid. Access improved through an open tap. And slowly, daily life started to stabilise. For Maleshe Banda and her community, turning on a tap is no longer accompanied by uncertainty. A simple change has generated a lasting impact. 💧 Discover Maleshe’s story and learn how ForAfrika is supporting water access across communities: forafrika.org #WorldWaterDay #ForAfrika #WaterForAll #WhereWaterFlowsEqualityGrows

In Montepuez, Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, unsafe water once cost lives: cholera and other diseases spread through the community. Ms. Muzinha Mussa remembers walking long distances to fetch water, often facing danger, even from hippos. Since a borehole was installed, water is closer and safer to access. For women like Ms. Mussa, daily life has changed, bringing greater safety, health, and peace of mind. 💧 Learn more about our work in Mozambique at: forafrika.org #WorldWaterDay #ForAfrika #WaterForAll #WhereWaterFlowsEqualityGrows

The global water crisis affects everyone, but not equally. For women, water scarcity is deeply personal. For Roba, equality means water flowing closer to home. It lifts the burden on women, creates healthier environments for children, and enables communities to thrive. By bringing safe water closer to her home, ForAfrika helped ease a daily burden, restoring time and energy for what matters most. Watch her story below. 👇 This World Water Day, under the theme “Where water flows, equality grows”, we join the global call to ensure safe water for all. Join us this World Water Day and in the days that follow as we share more stories from across Africa. #WorldWaterDay #ForAfrika #WaterForAll #WhereWaterFlowsEqualityGrows

Last month, ForAfrika’s Central African Republic team welcomed colleagues from ForAfrika Germany for a visit to review programme progress, strengthen partnerships, and engage directly with the communities we serve. Reduction in international funding have led several humanitarian organisations to scale down their operations. Despite these challenges, ForAfrika continues to work alongside communities to support sustainable livelihoods. Our love for Africa does not allow us to stop. Meetings with the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Minister of Livestock, and partners including Tearfund and WHH, helped reinforce collaboration around food security and long-term development opportunities. Field visits to Sibut and Dékoa showcased tangible impact: livestock initiatives helping families grow their assets, and Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), many led by women, supporting savings, the growth of small businesses and education opportunities for children. There is a renewed sense of hope, with families beginning to dream again of a better tomorrow. Communities in CAR continue to demonstrate remarkable resilience. Through partnership, local leadership and sustained commitment, viable pathways toward sustainable development remain possible. #ForAfrika #CommunityResilience #FoodSecurity #CAR

After a challenging start to the year for children in Mozambique, marked by severe floods and the landfall of Cyclone Guezani, the official inauguration of the 2026 school year took place this week in Sofala Province. The ceremony was hosted by Daniel Chapo, President of Mozambique, and brought together community leaders, CBOs, government institutions, school directors, and families from across the city. Government representatives acknowledged the difficulties communities faced in recovering from the disaster and expressed gratitude to the organisations that stood alongside them during the emergency response and recovery phase. During the occasion, ForAfrika was formally recognised for its work in the District of Vilankulo, Inhambane Province, receiving a diploma of appreciation for its contribution to improving education sector indicators. This recognition reflects the resilience of the communities we serve and the power of partnership in times of crisis. #ForAfrika #SofalaProvince #CycloneRecovery

In Viendi and Kalupuca, ForAfrika is breaking the silence around menstruation. Through Aunt Ermelinda’s workshops, girls learn about their bodies, menstrual hygiene, and how to manage their periods safely and with dignity. In communities where stigma and period poverty keep girls out of school, these sessions are life-changing. With hygiene kits, WASH support, and open conversations, we ensure every girl can learn, grow, and stay in school. Learn more here: forafrika.org/angola/lets-ta…

This week, ForAfrika hosted a World Food Programme US delegation in Uganda’s West Nile to see how refugee households are rebuilding livelihoods as humanitarian support declines. The highlight was meeting Adologo Refugee Group, a women-led enterprise of 25 refugees and 5 Ugandan nationals using tomato farming to build income and resilience. With start-up support including quality inputs, irrigation, and a tricycle, the group has established three acres of tomatoes and is on track for harvest. The tricycle is already generating additional income by transporting produce for other farmers and strengthening group savings. The visit also underscored a familiar constraint: land access. What stood out was the group’s solution, a trust-based arrangement with a host community member that enables cultivation and continuity. Strengthening these models through longer-term land use agreements can unlock even greater investment and stability. Above all, the message was clear: lasting progress happens when communities have the tools and skills to drive their own success. ForAfrika is proud to work with World Food Programme and other partners committed to restoring dignity and accelerating self-sufficiency. If you’re seeking cost-effective approaches with measurable returns at household level, we welcome opportunities to collaborate and scale models like this across Uganda’s refugee-hosting districts.

Neide was born healthy, but breastfeeding difficulties led to a fight for survival. After four hospital admissions for severe malnutrition, her recovery underscores the fragility of early nutrition and the need for proper support for sustained feeding practices at home. In Cubal, Angola, food insecurity and limited dietary diversity make recovery difficult once families return home. With ForAfrika's support, Neide’s mother, Maria, learned to prepare nutritious meals from local ingredients and shares this knowledge with her community. 👉 Read the full story and discover how community-based care is helping children recover and thrive: forafrika.org/angola/neides-… #ForAfrika #ChildNutrition #MalnutritionRecovery

In Inhambane, Mozambique, more than 700 households were affected by Cyclone Guezani over the weekend. ForAfrika is coordinating closely with the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGD) to conduct rapid needs assessments and support affected communities. We have already mobilised tarpaulins from our warehouse for immediate shelter support. However, needs remain high for families who have lost their homes and essential belongings.
