We see our home planet as a whole, lit up in spectacular blues and browns. A green aurora even lights up the atmosphere. That's us, together, watching as our astronauts make their journey to the Moon.

Even in darkness, we glow. In this image of Earth taken by the Artemis II crew, we can see the electric lights of human activity. In the lower right, sunlight illuminates the limb of the planet.

That's us! 🌍 The Artemis II crew captured beautiful, high-resolution images of our home planet during their journey to the Moon. As @Astro_Christina put it: "You guys look great."

It’s lucky that Elizabeth being a girl was a matter of complete indifference to her father, had no adverse consequences for her mother, and was treated with total equanimity by her subjects otherwise this might seem absurd.

This is a truly incredible shot, especially given that the NASA live feed chose to show video of the cheering crowd right at the exact moment of solid rocket booster separation…

My Daughter came over to tell me her daughter heard that I had brain cancer. 🙄 She took this photo and sent it to me to upload to prove I'm not ill. The people who are ill are those that are spreading these ridiculous stories. I'm fit as a fiddle. You don't have to worry.

20 years ago, if you heard a scholar was being censored for quoting Richard Dawkins, you'd have the censors were religious bigots. You'd never have guessed the censors were objecting to a statement of biological fact …in University of Oxford's Biology Department.

Teachers warn school libraries to stop censoring books. At the National Education Union (NEU) conference in Brighton, General Secretary Daniel Kebede said: “Any move to censor books in school libraries, based on misinformation and fearmongering, should ring alarm bells for all of us.” This follows reports from Index on Censorship that a school in Salford removed 130 books from its library, including George Orwell’s 1984, The Notebook, and the Twilight series. The librarian was “threatened with disciplinary action” and eventually resigned. Several NEU delegates voiced concern about what they described as a disturbing trend of censorship in school libraries, and voted in favour of a motion calling on the union’s executive to oppose it. Delegate Laura Butterworth said: “I’ve heard many accounts from librarians in my district having to remove art books because they include historic paintings and sculptures of nudes.” Read more below 👇
