I remember when Soul Plane leaked six months before its release. The first-time director tried to convince MGM to just put it out early, but they waited—and by the time it hit theaters, so many people had already seen it that it flopped. He never got another studio film after that.
My agent at the time even said, “It’s too bad your people don’t support Black movies.” I fired her on the spot. Soul Plane did become a cult classic and I get residuals still to this day.

In Mississippi, 14-year-old Carly Gregg came home to find her mom searching her room after being informed she was vaping weed at school.
Carly said nothing.
She grabbed a .357 Magnum from under the mattress, walked back in, and shot her mother three times in the head.
The teen then used her mom’s phone to text her stepdad: “Are you almost home, honey?”
When he arrived, she was waiting, and tried to blow his head off too. However, her stepdad managed to wrestle the gun away despite being shot in the shoulder.
In 2024, Carly was convicted and sentenced to two life sentences without parole.

There's no excuse for the police to shoot a 17-year-old in the back of the head. Bodycam footage contradicts the initial statement by police, because the teenager had a phone, not a gun. Emeshyon Wilkins should still be alive.
