@GrumpyPete
I find that everything is being repeated from politicians lies & corruption and Dad's Army on BBC. My tweets don't necessarily express my views.

@DesmondSwayne We certainly can afford it, it's just a choice where taxpayers money is spent.
English

If, like me, you were born in 1956, you’ll receive almost £300,000 more in benefits than you’ll pay in taxes in your lifetime
State Pensions make up a huge chunk of that
Long term, we simply can’t afford to sustain the Triple Lock’s generosity

@davidharsanyi "Power corrupts, absolute power corrupt absolutely" this is the message from Orwell whether it be left or right
English

Animal Farm was a satire of communism. (And the chances that Orwell would have seen common cause with contemporary anti-Western socialists is close to zero)
brandon*@brndxix
George Orwell was a socialist
English

@KeruboSk Possibly the opposite! Massive debt and a qualification that won't get you a job. All this while your mates too thick to go to university are raking in the money as electricians, plumbers, etc.
English

@AllisonPearson @reformparty_uk You are making the assumption there will be another General Election
English

Be of good cheer.
More in Conmon poll says Reeves, Cooper, Miliband will lose their seats at the general election.
16 out of 22 Cabinet ministers will lose their seats to @reformparty_uk
Labour are finished.

@colinwalker79 Shows how much we have fallen. With the exception of the interconnector with France all or electricity was generated in the UK in the past
English

Britain's electricity is its 'most British' in over 20 years
Just 46 per cent of the energy was imported, while 53 per cent was generated in the UK

@YvetteCooperMP Well, thank god you've sorted that problem out

@davidvance All the countrys in the Western world can't stop a third world dictatorship stopping their oil and gas supplies.

@paullewismoney @UKMoneyWellness @Moneybox @BBCRadio4 All depends on how you measure poverty and how the parents spend their windfall.
English

After nine years the controversial two child limit on means-tested benefits ends this week lifting half a million children out of poverty but at a cost of £2.5bn. What will it mean for families who gain? with Tom Gibbons of @UKMoneyWellness on @Moneybox noon @BBCRadio4

🚨 Mandelson to be fined £300 for urinating against a wall
Kensington and Chelsea Council plans to hand him a fixed penalty notice after he relieved himself in public last year.
It appears that leaking piss is a more serious offence than leaking sensitive documents in modern Britain.
Who hired this revolting man to be British Ambassador to the US?
Two-tier Keir.

@GBNEWS Let's face it a large percentage of the population don't know if they're Arthur or Martha

@triffic_stuff_ While that may be true in the short term, prices were already spiralling out of control before the war. Still it's better than a nuclear weapon delivered on London by an Iranian intercontinental ballistic missile.

🚨STARMER BLASTS TRUMP: IT’S TRUMP’S FAULT UK FAMILIES HAVE SKY HIGH ENERGY BILLS! 😳
Prime Minister Points Finger Directly At Us President For Punishing British Households With Wild And Soaring Price Swings
Whoa! Keir Starmer has taken the gloves off completely and is now openly blaming President Donald Trump, alongside Putin, for the sky-high and fluctuating energy bills hammering UK families and businesses.
Speaking during his Gulf visit as oil prices surged above $110 a barrel amid escalating Middle East tensions and Trump’s strong rhetoric, the Prime Minister unleashed his frustration at global leaders he claims are causing the chaos.
“I’m fed up with the fact that families across the country see their bills go up and down on energy, businesses bills go up and down on energy because of the actions of Putin or Trump across the world,” Starmer declared.
This provocative swipe escalates transatlantic tensions, but critics are pointing to Starmer’s net zero obsession, refusal to allow new North Sea drilling, and heavy green taxes have left Britain dangerously reliant on volatile imports, making UK energy prices among the highest in the world regardless of international events.

@Ainsworth7Jo @6117CH @miriam_cates The UK has one of the lowest state pension in Europe. I suggest don't retire, if you don't check any additional benefits you may be eligible for.
English

@GrumpyPete @6117CH @miriam_cates Unsustainable means it cannot carry on indefinitely without reform. Any reform should be based on income not assets or savings. I’ll soon be of state pension age, I do not have a personal private pension, auto enrolment started in 2012 so not sure how much that’s worth.
English

“Reform’s commitment to keep the triple lock is the final nail in the coffin for the hope of pension reform from the Right. Britain’s young people are now condemned to pay through the nose for the retirement of the wealthiest generation in history.” ✍️👇

English

@Ainsworth7Jo @6117CH @miriam_cates Oh, it must be my understanding of the word "unsustainable" I assumed you implied it had to stop at enormous cost to pensioners who appear to be the cause of all the countrys financial problems. Not incompetent and corrupt politicians and public servants.
English

@GrumpyPete @6117CH @miriam_cates I didn’t say it was pensioners fault did I? I am what is described as a boomer. It’s no longer viable because the population & life expectancy has increased & consecutive governments & short term planning have failed us.
English

@ClaireCoutinho Laws brought in by successive Tory governments. Your party is equally to blame
English

@Ainsworth7Jo @6117CH @miriam_cates Of course it's still viable, it's not the pensioners fault subsequent governments from Blair to Johnson allowed mass immigration of the largely unskilled, forgot they would need housing and a pension when they retired.
English

@GrumpyPete @6117CH @miriam_cates NHS & the welfare state came to be as a result of the 1942 Beveridge report, the population then was 49 million, life expectancy 65-69. In 2026, population is 70 million, life expectancy 80-84. It’s no surprise that the model from 1942 is no longer viable.
English

@6117CH @Ainsworth7Jo @miriam_cates When 20% of the working population are either too sick or idle to work and the number is growing the country will run out of money. Don't blame the pensioners who worked all their lives and paid into the system.
English

@GrumpyPete @Ainsworth7Jo @miriam_cates The future is very worrying. It seems like many are trapped in the socialist mindset and think it'll always continue.
