I did it, I fucking beat Enemy Zero after like 12-16 hours over 2 days.
I had to back up & then restore my Saturn's save memory through the ODE firmware several times in order to not softlock the fucking game because of the limited save/load system.
I beat "D" on Sega Saturn with real hardware. It had a hyperspecific kind of vibe that I really like - very much a director's personal brand of Early 90's Multimedia CD Surrealism nicely mashed together with traditional gothic horror trappings.
since the Build Engine is a "2.5D" engine, looking up and down in software mode often makes textures vertically stretch or squash to try and match the player's perspective.
when viewing the right texture it can sometimes create some very funny visuals
every time i accidentally get killed by a swinging door in Duke 3D i imagine Duke getting cartoon flattened against a wall by the door like a Tom & Jerry cartoon
knowing how to do pinch harmonics is awesome because it means you can sometimes be a lazy piece of shit and do one to get a high note instead of having to go somewhere else on the guitar neck
