@atrupar It is so insane how fast Trump has been able to change Russia from #1 enemy, to Russia first. Especially as it happens while Russia actively assist in the killing of American soldiers. Never thought it would happen this way. Thought the elected people in US would stop it. WILD

@Harder2000 @Microinteracti1 The US is stronger enough to handle Russia and China would be nuked. Neither Country poses a threat to the US anyway. Canada even made a major trade deal with China. So lets go our separate ways. Close the US bases overseas and end this scam

Let’s be absolutely clear about what just happened. The United States of America, the country that built NATO, that spent half a century telling Europe that Russia was the enemy, that asked young men from Normandy to Kabul to die for the idea of a free world, has now chosen Russia. Not drifted toward. Not flirted with. Chosen. Trump calls Putin a genius. Cuts military aid to Ukraine mid-war. Blocks sanctions. Parrots Kremlin talking points about NATO aggression. Invites Lukashenko, Russia’s obedient attack dog, to found a peace board while Russian missiles are still hitting Ukrainian hospitals. The continent that actually shares a border with this threat. That actually absorbs the refugees. That actually lives under the shadow of what happens when Russia decides a neighbor isn’t really a country. Europe was told for eighty years to trust Washington. To buy American weapons. To let American generals run the alliance. To believe that when it really mattered, America would be there. It wasn’t there! It picked the other side and sent an invoice. Normal Americans, the ones who actually believe in something, should understand what this looks like from here. It looks like betrayal. Clean, deliberate, and permanent. Not a misunderstanding. Not a bad week in foreign policy. A choice. Europe is building its own army, its own supply chains, its own future. Because one man wanted to golf with autocrats. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 That said, Oil and Gas from Russia has been stopped, so while it was ridiculous to start (especially when Germany increased), it has finally stopped as it should.

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 Yes, definitely, a big issue in Middle East and undoubtedly a terror state - the World would be better without the Iranian regime! That said, the entry into the war was horrible, had no clear objectives and chaos ensued. Europe should have been included and should support though!

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 I disagree and doing so would increase cost for US (and Europe), but its a fair opinion to have though! Also, I appreciate that Trump finally got the lazy, sleeping on laurel European leaders to invest in the army and defence, that was sorely needed. Finally Europe is moving 😅

@Harder2000 @Microinteracti1 Nope the US should take its bases and get out of NATO. It serves zero purpose for the US to stay in NATO and you know it. Its a one way street. If you want to still buy our weapons you can or we can sell them to other Countries. Argentina for instance

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 Its the history before the war (Russia, Greenland, NATO, not being included before etc) that caused them to reject it - I was not a fan of the decisions in Europe, but I do understand the issue, especially with an Israeli war that has no benefits but only costs to Europe.

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 I think both Europe and US would be fine without NATO, but also think both benefits from a strong NATO - Russia now, China tomorrow. Outside of NATO / defense, the commercial relation is also key. A weak US / Europe alliance only helps China and Russia.

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 Makes sense, then just remove the troops - they are here because of US foreign policy, excersising soft power and influence. It would not be an issue if US wanted to move them back and still stay part of NATO. NATO benefits both Europe and US, especially the US weapons industry.

@Harder2000 @Microinteracti1 Give me one reason the US should protect Europe. As far as removing troops from Europe, think of how much they would benefit US communties if they were stationed there. Face it , NATO does not benefit the US. It is a one way relationship.

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 I do not agree with the few European countries that rejected US passage or airspace access, yet you need to consider that Europe was not consulted and was suddenly pushed and told to clean up a mess made by US on behalf of Israel, that will only have a negative impact on Europe.

@PMAGA22 @Microinteracti1 Irrelevant to the discussion as the US army is for US purposes, not European. US could just withdraw the troops from Europe and still remain part of NATO. That said, doing so would also reduce US reach and influence. Do you think US army spenditure would go down without NATO?

@johnkonrad 100% agree that Biden/Kamala fucked up in historical fashion on that immigration part, but why accept a lower bar because of that? Alienating allies and commercial trade partners the way we see now, will likely lead to extremely severe ramifications that cannot be undone again.

Look, I get it, Dems. You think buying Greenland is dumb. You think trash-talking NATO is dumb. You think Hegseth firing generals is dumb. You think bombing Iran is dumb. Fine. Maybe you’re right. Maybe you’re wrong. I’ll buy you a beer and we can argue about it. But that’s not the point. Every administration in American history has done dumb things. Jefferson had an embargo that tanked his own economy. LBJ had Vietnam. Carter sold the Panama Canal for $1. W. had “Mission Accomplished.” Obama had…. where do I even begin? Dumb is bipartisan. Dumb is American. Dumb is fine. DC runs on dumb decisions. What NONE of them ever did, what is truly, mind-melting, pants-on-head, clown-car-fire, galaxy-brained, lead-paint-chip-eating, 50-IQ-Neanderthal-ripping-a-bong dumb, was pay NGOs by the busload to smuggle tens of millions of people, including actual convicted criminals, across a border we spent trillions pretending to defend, then hand them free four-star hotels, free cell phones, free ATM cards, and a court date in 2031 they were never going to show up for. That is not a policy. That is a SNL cold open someone forgot to write a punchline for. A five-year-old with a juice box could tell you that was Bozo-the-Clown-on-crack, Weekend-at-Bernie’s-running-DHS, “hold-my-beer-I’m-gonna-try-something” levels of stupid. My golden retriever could have run a tighter border. A Magic 8-Ball would have outperformed the entire Biden interagency. That’s the new threshold, Democrats. That’s the low-water mark. That’s the floor. That is the Mariana Trench of public policy and you personally rented the Titan submersible. Argue all you want about the Strait of Hormuz. Write your op-eds. Go on cable TV with Tom Nichols. Clutch your pearls about Greenland. But until Trump proposes something even half as mind-bendingly, bone-crushingly, civilization-forfeitingly brain-dead as what Biden and Kamala did with our borders, I genuinely do not care. Zero F’s given by me.

@pmddomingos Europeans do not see an issue in US focusing on US and removing soldiers from bases in Europe. The threatening of allies both commercially and militarily, as well as the alignment with an enemy that is attacking a European country, however, is not compatible with being an ally.

Europeans don't understand that America has been the world's daddy for the last 80 years out of idealism, not self-interest. Americans genuinely believe in defending freedom and democracy, and they elected Trump because they're tired of receiving only hate and contempt in return for their sacrifices.

@Microinteracti1 While it is true that this will have a huge, negative impact on US as well, and that US cost will go up in this new World, European leaders also need to prove that they are more than strong words - action and execution at speed is needed. Red tape must be removed to succeed!

I am not sure the American military establishment has fully grasped what Trump has actually done here. So let me spell it out in language even a Pentagon procurement officer can understand. Europe has been buying American weapons at a staggering rate. In 2024 alone, US foreign military sales notifications to European countries hit $76 billion. Four times the European average since 2008. F-35s, missile systems, air defence, ammunition. All of it American. All of it coming with decades of service contracts, maintenance agreements, spare parts, software updates and training programmes worth hundreds of billions more over their operational lifetimes. Between 2020 and 2024, the United States supplied 64 percent of all European weapons imports. That is now over. Europe has an $860 billion defence plan, and American contractors are being frozen out. The goal is 80 percent of all military purchases from European factories by 2030. Airbus. Rheinmetall. KNDS. Saab. Leonardo. BAE Systems. They are about to receive the largest order book in the history of European defence industry. Because Trump made it politically impossible for any European government to keep writing cheques to Washington. Some European governments have discussed worries that the Pentagon could remotely disable American F-35 fighters or impose restrictions on how US weapons can be used. When your supplier is also threatening to annex your allies, that is not paranoia. That is basic procurement logic. Trump set out to make America great again. He has succeeded magnificently. For Rheinmetall. Gandalv / @Microinteracti1

@realMAG1775 NATO is irrelevant, it is a defensive alliance. Also, because many people seem to not understand - US defense/war cost will not go down without NATO, quite the opposite. Blame game, if you want to, should be directed at the alliances with individual European countries, not NATO.

I think it is too late. The last 6 months, Americans like me, ordinary people that pay taxes that fund our military that has been protecting Europe for 80 years, have listened and watched Europeans spew nothing but superiority, mockery and disdain for US. All of US. You call our democratically elected President the most horrific names - you laugh at him - US. You call us stupid and uneducated. For some reason Europe thinks the US must ask you permission for self determination and preservation. Germany laughed when President Trump warned you about fuel and Russia. Who's laughing now. Not me. I am disgusted we allowed you folks to 'control' us to such a degree because we wanted to be friends. I think we have grown up now. Now, I want nothing to do with you. Zip. Bring our soldiers home, all of them. Take our equipment. You can buy our leases out. If you want to avail yourself of our services you can pay full price for them, or go your own way. My father served Heidelberg for 3 years. My mother was born in Barcelona, Spain. I have friends in Glasgow. I care about MY people there. Everyone else is irrelevant now. The US has freed itself from the narcissistic clutches of a feckless EU leadership. If you think this is an isolated opinion...it is not.
