When I worked with incarcerated women I witnessed their partners take advantage of these barriers: "go ahead and call the cops, why would they help you with your record?" We must build new systems of care so that everyone can access safety on their own terms.
Gbvrg@GBVresearchgrp

The traumas of IPV, racism & incarceration may co-occur for Black women survivors with prior system involvement, increasing hopelessness and external barriers to help-seeking. More work is needed to increase access to services for this population. bit.ly/3BZVz44

With the rising cases of intimate partner femicide circulating in the news, the Femicide Watch Platform is a great resource to understand what femicide entails. Specifically, information on intimate partner femicide can be found in our Femicide 101 dossier. #CallitFemicide

Insightful piece by my friend and colleague @Alex_T_Young on how modern gun ownership intertwines with consumerism and empowerment myths. A must-read for anyone exploring the cultural dynamics of guns in America. Check it out for a fresh perspective on the gun debate!

Got the chance to think about the attempted assassination of Donald Trump and our ossified gun politics through the lens of two fascinating new books about gun culture by my frequent Twitter interlocutors @drewmckevitt and @davidyamane for @lithub: lithub.com/modern-gun-own…

Would anyone be able to share tips or papers about handling missingness in suppressed CDC suicide data in US counties due to low counts? Lots of counties aren't reported and looking for best practices - thank you!

This is a great opportunity for homicide researchers to engage with scholars from multiple disciplines who focus on preventing firearm injury, which is very closely aligned with the prevention of homicide.

Our survey will close Tuesday 4/30. If you work in injury and violence research and haven't had a chance to answer yet, please consider doing so!

We want to understand what supervisors do to promote the well-being of their research team members and how effective they perceive those strategies to be. If you supervise at least 1 person, it would be great to hear from you: bit.ly/VTRTS. The survey takes 5-10 min.

We need to evolve if we do not want to be left behind! "The answer to the question in the title of this piece is arguably, "not a lot." If criminology is to survive as a discipline, then it needs to be more useful to police and others... psychologytoday.com/us/blog/stoppi…
