I find it shocking that a giant meeting is happening next week to discuss changes of the f1 regulation and everyone is invited BUT the drivers. Aren’t they the most concerned people out there ? It’s their safety endangered and their voices won’t even be heard.

hats off to alpine for publicly backing their drivers and calling out the abuse this early. this is exactly the standard every team should be held to. this kind of response really puts into perspective how mclaren never addressed the extreme levels of hate/death threats lando received all throughout the last two years (and there’s still damage being done because of that). you’d expect the ‘papaya family’ to be loudest in moments like that, so i hope they learn from this moving forward.

it makes me sad to think about all the abuse and harrassment lando faced in 24/25 (and still receives), and knowing mclaren COULD'VE said something but they didn't. my only hope is that it was lando's decision for them to not sayanything.

i’m not going to rehash the discourse bc clearly it is of no point bc ppl are blinded w hate when it comes to lando but i really do hope mclaren learns a thing or two from alpine. “papaya family” isn’t just a marketable gimmick, family means caring and speaking up for the members

just to add, the hate lando got wasn’t just “sports rivalry” nor were his fans exaggerating the severity of it. it was THAT bad We weren’t being soft, we weren’t doing it for attention, we don’t bring it up to this day for any sort of complex. What was directed at him was nothing short of volatile, it was exaggerated by credible and non-credible media outlets, even so much as said straight to his face, hate comments on his own posts so bad he deleted posts just to make it stop, or booed on a podium. all due to clickbait stories and out of context quotes that ran rampant because people got off on him being a punching bag, no matter the truth I don’t say “if this was any other driver” to be crass, but you won’t convince me that Lando was held to a different standard than most would’ve been in his situation. And in time, I’ve learned to accept that standard as a compliment even if it wasn’t intended as one. We’re all human, we all hate things or people or elements in this sport. And i truly sincerely hope no other driver gets that treatment

and mclaren, we are so disappointed that you didn't bother to take a step like alpine did in 2024/2025. it was your driver getting actual hate not just criticism, but straight up abuse and death threats this image is not even of 1% of what lando received.
