Absolutely heartbreaking scenes today. The soybean photo was taken 1 mile north of Hwy 3, 6 miles south of Hardy. The corn pictures are from north of the Stonega elevator. Sadly, these are not the worst case situations, but I could at least get into these fields. #isucrops. .

Although the corn trial areas had adequate moisture for eatablishment, the soybean trial areas ended up being too dry to get a good stand of covers without drilling into moisture

Decent stand of covers coming in after research trials are taken out. Still having good activity with my alley mix 👍.

@NStewCBS2 None of the trial areas were effected including the standard stature hybrids

@ILWMTechDev Great to hear! One quick follow up if you don't mind, was there any damage to surrounding "normal" corn? Did it appear it handled the storms better?

had a chance to check the sites I had (all but for 1 university trial I havent put eyes on yet). Luckily none were showing any damage but if I hear of any I will let you know.

Luckily my trial locations survived the high winds. That being said, could have done without the hail damage from this weekends storms. Hail damage will be an additional stressor added as well as an easier infection point for disease.

@NStewCBS2 Hi Nick, I am hunting around tomorrow to check some locations for any differences like we saw last year. If I see anything I will let you know. Looks like the worst of it missed my locations but I have yet to confirm.

@ILWMTechDev Hey Cody! I'm a meteorologist up in Cedar Rapids, IA. I was wondering if you were impacted by Thursday's storms in any way, and if you were by chance using the short-stature corn. Was curious if if may have held up better in today's derecho compared to other corn.

Here is another good article on the dry weather:residual herbicide interaction. Bottom line is the same. If you planned to use a residual herbicide, then use the residual herbicide.

Great information and timely reminder from Dr. Sikkema. It's difficult to be too early with your POST corn herbicides, but much easier to be too late.

From 2018-2021, the average price of corn was $5.94 in Ontario (OMAFRA). If weeds are up to 2, 4, 6, and 8 inches in height at time of postemergence herbicide application the loss in $/acre was $30, 104, 181, and 241, respectively. Corn is very sensitive to weed interference.

@MNelson_ISU The quickest way to decaturs farm has two culverts that give you a great launch if you are going anywhere over 15 mph. At 20 you can darn near get the bottles and booms to bounce up out of the bed 🙃

Although initial antagonism was apparent with some of these combinations, termination has mostly occurred but time to kill was greatly increased. Same plots 23 days later

Impact of various tankmixes with Powermax 3 on cereal rye burndown 10 dat. Pretty good example of antagonism in any burndown plots with metribuzin included.
