The problem I see today is there are a lot of talk from people who never built anything or done anything except sap from Afrobeats just for personal branding and make small change here and there.
The “talkers” want Afrobeats to decline not for anything except “I told you so”. This bullshit delusion of grandeur is the problem, not the industry. The conversations currently going on in the rooms that matter, from Lagos to Los Angeles, is not about decline but of global growth. No shit talkers in those rooms I can assure you.
All this decline nonsense is just talking from one’s ass.

It’s crazy what appears like a simple music video shot in Lagos has further propelled the record to a get like this. That video became a cultural moment with different talking points that were sustained in the different cycles of its promotion. The Nigerian designers worn by both Tems and Dave. The creatives behind the scene The mini cultural figures in the video Organic conversations that everyone had about their appearance or input in the video. It just felt like another peak moment since Try Me for Tems for a new generation of creatives and like she always does, her team in partnership with Dave have once again spun a hit into a cultural moment. The rollout was expertly dispatched. The right platforms did the right storytelling to their different audiences from mainstream to the niches ones. They did some other things but let’s enjoy the magic of @IAmDonawon and team.
