Both @MattWaldman and I agreed that Carnell Tate is the WR1 from this class but where does he stack up with some of the prospects Waldman has ranked highly in recent drafts?
Matt Harmon@MattHarmon_BYB

Special episode of #ReceptionPerception The Show is out for you today as I sit down with @MattWaldman to tackle some of the biggest WR debates in the 2026 NFL Draft class 👀 Topics include: - Where does Carnell Tate stack up with previous top-10 WRs? - Can KC Concepcion correct his catch point flaws? - What does Jordyn Tyson need to do to become WR1? - Is Malachi Fields a good pro prospect? I just received a Bam Knight for Ja’Lynn Polk offer in dynasty and I just have to respect the grind in March.

First prospect to be great at everything on tape and on spreadsheets and not be a consensus top 20 player. Him being on the team that won the most memorable natty of my lifetime and being a part of the worst draft class in a decade makes it all weirder

I’m sick of the fucking discourse about Carnell Tate’s 40 time, football isn’t played in a straight line, turn on the got damn film & he’s a bad motherfucker between the lines. Top 5 pick, anybody want to argue I have 5 minutes to spare before i walk in I-Hop❕

Hands should be together at catch point, not converging from opposite ends as ball arrives. This increases chances of ball squirting thru fingertips or bouncing off palms and not caught by fingertips. Unstable backstop for snaring target.

@MattWaldman I have followed you for years and love the RSP, but not sure I have gotten a definition of a clap attack. Can you define it for me?

The blocking ability of tight ends absolutely matters for fantasy purposes. It’s not about how good of a blocker a TE is, but whether that player is a good enough blocker to stay on the field. So using things like specific ranks of TE’s PFF blocking grades (which are flawed in themselves because they don’t account for the type of blocking being done) is a completely useless exercise. Conversely, using things like route shares, player height/weight, and just understanding a TE’s role/projected role within an offense is much more useful. To give the obvious example, Dalton Kincaid was the 3rd most efficient receiver in all of football this year in terms of yards per route run (and easily the most efficient TE of the past 5 years). Despite this, he was just the TE13 in fantasy points per game with just a 44% route share. We want our fantasy TE's running over 70% of their team's routes, so this usage was pretty poor. The “receiving TE” archetype will always be capped if they can’t be a serviceable inline blocker (Kincaid, Likely, Engram types), UNLESS they’re a good enough receiver to where they can legitimately double as their team’s slot WR (Bowers type... very rare).

Note that 95% of the releases here show Steve Johnson getting far enough outside or inside the frame of the opponent before releasing the opposite direction in the stem. Most WR prospects and many pros don’t do this well enough when executing the same techniques.

FOOTBALL SPEED IS WHAT MATTERS SPEED HAS TO BE DEFINED HOW/WHERE ITS USED 40 speed means nothing One of the best ever at manipulating and creating space. It’s not how fast you run, it’s how you move. Don’t let anyone lie to you

Since Shane Bowne was fired, Abdul Carter, in 4 games has 3.5 Sacks 2 Forced Fumbles 1 Fumble Recovery 16 Tackles 10 QB Hits 22 pressures Carter's 52 pressures is 2nd, all time for rookies, since they started recording the stat in 2017 (Bosa had 60) He also wins a 20.7% rate against double teams and has 20 quick pressures. Carter is poised to be an absolute BEAST next season!
