@GeorgieR30 That’s the going rate for freelance shifts at some of the national newspapers (hasn’t changed in years) - I gave up doing shifts there. You are taxed at source too on a zero hour contact - completely fucked when Covid hit.

I know there are much worse things going on in the world right now but just saw a post looking for #freelancers paying, wait for it…£120 a day. Looks like they were inundated too. How can anyone seriously be expected to live off that in 2024? The state of journalism is shocking.

@heawood Ffs - the law needs to change / actually be enforced / be much stricter for freelancers / late payments. I’m really sick to death of companies who know better taking the piss.

@SuzySometimes @Freelance_Beat I say this over & over - it should be a legal requirement to list the salary (or range) on a job description - why waste EVERYONE’S time by not doing so

For a final job interview I was asked to take a personality test, a verbal exam, a math exam, abstract thinking exam and also a very long business case PLUS a 2 hour interview I thought went well. I didn’t get the position and they never shared their salary range. 😡

@SamanthaAnderl Talking about money in general - quoting, invoicing, charging what I’m worth (never)- makes my insides hurt. Not great when you are freelance / self employed as my whole existence relies on this! 😬

It has been two weeks since mum passed away and I've only just been able to bring myself to open her bedroom door. The moment I did, Arty climbed right onto her bed, exactly where he slept next to her every day for the last two weeks of her life ❤️ Dogs are the best.
