Excited to have shared our lab's ongoing research in the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf of Alaska at the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) North America meeting in Fort Worth, TX! We had great discussions on advancing environmental science together #SETAC2024

Presented my dissertation at the society of environmental toxicology and chemistry - North America (SETAC) meeting this past week! I study the fate and export of mercury from the glaciers in Alaska. It was great to meet new colleagues and inform them of my research 🏔️ #SETAC2024

Our lab spent the first week of September sampling watersheds in Alaska that span a gradient of glacial influence to understand how mercury is cycling in these systems 🏔️

Meet Izzy Nelson, an incoming graduate student at the Nielsen Lab! She just graduated from the University of Miami majoring in marine biology/ecology and is excited to be apart of the lab 🐠🌊 Fun Fact: I studied abroad in the Galapagos 🏝️🐢

Our research associate, Dr. Ackerly, has been a busy fish! She gave a talk at the International Congress on the Biology of Fish in Michigan and then gave another talk at the Society for Experimental Biology Conference in Prague. After all that, she still had energy for fieldwork!

Meet Grace Walsh from the Nielsen Lab! As a lab tech, Grace helps facilitate the research projects of the lab. Her primary research project assists Dr. Ackerly in investigating the effects of PFAS on Sheepshead minnow. Fun fact: Grace is our lab photographer 📸
