Just to make it clear: There will never be a time when it’s morally justifiable to pay the CEO of Tesco £10million. Ever. If you can’t grasp that you’re actually just an incredibly shitty person.

I dunno, glazing billionaires while you’re one paycheque away from losing the roof over your head is just a little bit weird. But maybe it’s just me.

In this 2017 interview with Jewish Chronicle (!), Owen Jones defends headlining at Israel lobby group JLM, demands Corbyn stand down as leader, insinuates left is riven with antisemitism, says he looks forward to visiting Israel, and that he opposes BDS because “you end up indiscriminately targeting Jewish people”. People get things wrong, of course. But Jones has never acknowledged he was played like a fiddle by Israel lobby during Corbyn years. He was, of course, far from the only one, but the fact the whole episode has been brushed under carpet means lessons have not been learnt. Link to interview: thejc.com/news/features/… Link to Asa Winstanley’s brilliant analysis of the saga, which has import far beyond this one case: electronicintifada.net/blogs/asa-wins…

Being 'friends' with a man who is responsible for the murder of 160 Iranian school children speaks volumes about Lanmy. Although its important to remember that both are responsible for the murder of over 70,000 Palestinians.

Great to catch up with my friend @JDVance today in DC following his talks in Pakistan. It is vital that the ceasefire continues and we get shipping flowing freely again through the Straits of Hormuz. We continue to work together towards a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.

I don’t think many people realise how desperate the situation is. Labour are sacrificing our democracy for the interests of another country. Vote every single one of the treacherous gits out. They betrayed their party and now the country.

🚨Breaking: MPs pass draconian laws restricting repeat protests "Policing by consent is a deeply held British custom. Today the Government has upended that tradition. By empowering police to stop protests on the basis of "cumulative disruption", which can include the impact of totally unconnected events, the government have hollowed out a fundamental right. The police have a ration book for public spaces, and protestors can only hope for coupons. The right to protest is protected under Article 10 of the Human Rights Act. We urge the police to think carefully about their legal obligations, about the role they want to play in British public life, and about ever using this power in practice. We hope the Government will, or a future government, will think again. " - Jack Coulson, Head of Advocacy

Jeez. Labour MP’s have just voted to give police unprecedented powers to ban recurring protests turning a fundamental freedom into a privilege granted by the state. No protest movement has ever brought about change through one single march or action - it’s precisely the cumulative nature of protest that has resulted in progressive change and held governments to account. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown by the government on our rights to freedom of expression and assembly but the government has driven it through anyway. How did it come to this?
Peter Stefanovic@PeterStefanovi2

🚨THIS WEEK MP’S WILL VOTE ON A BILL TO GIVE POLICE UNPRECEDENTED POWERS TO BAN RECURRING PROTESTS TURNING A FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOM INTO A PRIVILEGE GRANTED BY THE STATE We cannot allow this government to create a society where protest is treated as a privilege granted by the state rather than a right held by the people. The right to protest is precious and must be defended. ITS NOT TOO LATE to stop this shocking and shameful attack on our fundamental right to protest. More than 40 civil society groups including the TUC and Greenpeace have joined forces to oppose this draconian crackdown on our right to freedom of expression and assembly - and you can help too by CONTACTING YOUR MP RIGHT NOW - tag them to this film and and ask them to oppose this
