Dems running for Congress and POTUS must run on Supreme Court reform. A law forcing justices into senior status after 18 years, applicable to the current bench would do the trick. That would force Roberts, Alito, and Thomas into senior status, opening three seats to be filled immediately. Biden proposed this idea, and Harris endorsed it, too. Today’s Supreme Court decision effectively guts a key pillar of the Voting Rights Act, freeing state legislatures to gerrymander legislative districts to systematically dilute and weaken the voting power of racial minorities - so long as they do it under the guise of “partisanship” rather than explicit “racial bias.” And it serves as just one more example of how a majority of the current Court seems intent on abandoning its vital role in ensuring equal participation in our democracy and protecting the rights of minority groups against majority overreach. The good news is that such setbacks can be overcome. But that will only happen if citizens across the country who cherish our democratic ideals continue to mobilize and vote in record numbers - not just in the upcoming midterms or in high profile races, but in every election and every level.

I’m not interested in complaining about this Supreme Court VRA ruling. I’m interested in action. Republicans will begin a purge of blue seats, so the purge of red seats must begin. Let’s not waste time, blue states. Just draw new maps and show the Republicans what it looks like to use their rules against them. They’ll be begging on all fours for independent redistricting.

So of course this SCOTUS destroyed the Voting Rights Act as expected but too late for much of their intended evisceration of minority districts this cycle. What we do now is OVERWHELMING TURNOUT for November. SLAUGHTER them at the ballot box. Get every single seat we can.
