Q: How might we take these lessons we've learned during COVID and pivot to reimagine a more equitable and inclusive environment for students?

It's Black Maternal Health Week, and I'm fighting to pass the #Momnibus to save moms' lives. Preventable pregnancy-related deaths are rising in America, even as they fall across the world. I know that, together, we can end this crisis.

Black women are 3-5 times more likely to have a maternal death than white women in the United States. I was nearly one of them. This week is Black Maternal Health Week and I want to share my story with you. 🧵

As we talk about Black maternal health, we must acknowledge the trauma of Black parents who must raise children in a world of rampant police violence and systemic racism. We see and love you. We are working for a better and more just world for all of our children. #BMHW21

School leaders as you finalize all of your plans for PDs, the budget, assessments, teacher teams, etc. Don’t forget to also plan your time to eat lunch, take bathroom breaks, spend time with your loved ones and also include self-care. All are equally important and necessary.
