I completely understand the thought to bench them I just think it’s a tough look to the players on the blues and a tough look across the league. Better imo to keep hands clean let the chips fall

@LoMoretti @danreilly I mean… the teams we were playing benched half their rosters. Other teams like the panthers were benching players too. The last 2-3 games would have been fine

@stlsportsfan123 @danreilly I get what you are saying but it’s just not plausible to bench those guys when we aren’t resting them for anything. If we sit Thomas and lose then the league can investigate us for actively trying to tank. Sounds great from the armchair but it’s not worth it in reality

@stlsportsfan123 @danreilly Here’s the difference between team tank and antitank. Tank were rooting for us to lose and antitank were just enjoying the games. If we win great our players are progressing. If we lose great better draft pick. We can still be a contender without tanking believe it or not

@danreilly I have a question- no wrong answer here but it might spell out the differences a little clearer. Would you rather be really bad for 3-4 years and then be a juggernaut for 5+ years with 2 cups? Or make the playoffs every year for 20 years, always good but never a true contender

Cool. How many of those teams intentionally lost games to draft those players? Again, the “anti-tanking crowd” (cool name, proud member) isn’t against drafting a top 3 pick, we’re against the lunacy of suggesting the team should somehow help their chances by giving less than their best effort or changing the roster to make sure we lose.

@danreilly The problem is that there hasn't been one team that hasn't had a top 5 Pick on their roster that was won the cup in the last 10 years...so yes. Blues fans should be frustrated that for the 3rd year in a row that they wait until jan-feb to start playing to potential.

@chriskerber Blues are 16th on athletic ranking and it seems like they don’t think we have the top talent to be higher. It does seem like the fans of stl do believe we have some top line talent in our prospect pool. I hope we are right. Let go Blues!
