In Biomaker Meetup @cammakespace last night we continued turning a £100 peltier-controlled beer fridge/reptile egg incubator into a programmable lab incubator with a data logger. Measurements taken, so we'll have components for prototyping at our April Meetup!

Turns out an over-the-counter laxative + cells (and a few other common lab ingredients) yields highly competent cells! Prepping our own cells in house like this takes the average student experiment from ~$12 each to less than a penny! Lower cost = Access

@AmberFirefly @LondonBioHack he's being given it because he writes alternate firmwares to use them for other stuff (that doesn't need the chemicals), we're just deciding if we can accommodate it at the moment, was curious if people wanted to do dna sequencing, it's about 8 years old

@AmberFirefly looks like a friend of mines being given a dna sequencer, do you reckon there are non-uni people who'd want to use it? (seems the chemicals are £10k)
