There was a “shots fired” call that was reported on the other side of Murfreesboro, causing schools to go on lockdown. There was and is no threat to campus or the campus community. This post was made out of an abundance of caution.

INFORMATION ONLY: Attention Campus Community: The Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office has locked down the Homer Pittard Campus School due to a situation occurring in the county. There is currently no threat to campus or the campus community. #mtsu

We want to remind everyone to secure scooters and bicycles with proper locks to reduce the risk of theft. We also want to thank our campus community for working with us to solve these crimes.

Update: Scooter thefts. An alert student who noticed an abandoned scooter after a campus-wide email reminder about securing scooters due to an increase in thefts, called MTSU PD to report it.
