I’ve been both the skinny 98lbs and have been 200lbs. There is bullying on both ends. Being told you should starve yourself because you’re too fat is the same pain as being forced to eat because you’re skinny. It shapes ALL black girls relationships with food and weight.

The enslaved people of Texas were free on paper while still working fields they would not be told they could leave. That is not a historical footnote. That is the exact architecture every subsequent generation of Black Americans has had to navigate. Rights granted on paper, withheld in practice.
