@sharrond62 I don't know about Irish dance but my daughter dances vs boys all the time. It's rare to see boys and girls separated when she competes. Rarely, there's a boys section & the numbers are generally fewer - so less competition. BUT, if it's a female section then NO BOYS!!!

Girls are losing their opportunities to boys in a category for girls! It isn’t right… all girls are being relegated as less important than a few confused Boys feelings. Females are being treated as simply unimportant & unworthy of equality

@MikeAnnable @RachelReevesMP Agree it’s not new but it’s a step forward and we know it can change in the future as plans can get shelved. For me, it’s about the vision and then the action which is where the real evidence is.

Reflecting on yesterday’s statement from @RachelReevesMP, it was great to see our region mentioned with the Oxford/Cambridge Arc, Silicon Valley of Europe and the additional runway at Heathrow Airport. A lot of people I’ve met over the last 20 years of living in the Northamptonshire/MK area have said about it’s great location in the UK, the transport links and the opportunity to be a beating heart. Well the heart has always been there, but I think it’s about to start beating stronger. I’m looking forward to what the next years will bring and working with key stakeholders to help support our area to drive growth. We need to tackle challenges left from the pandemic, continue looking at how we can close gaps and deliver for future generations. Lots to do but with people working together anything can be achieved.

Its Friday so... I've just read a supposed argument, published in a real book by real academics, against the use of the terms 'male' and 'female' for humans. It goes like this (paraphrased to protect the guilty): "Other species, like goats, can be described as male and female. But they don't have names, like 'Fred' or 'Alice.' We do. We are social animals. We are individuals. We're not like goats. So we shouldn't be called male and female." That's it. I kid you not.
