Happy National Athletic Training Month! The national theme for the month is “Champions in Healthcare”. Here are some ideas of how you can show your appreciation to your AT! Stay tuned throughout the month to see what we have planned! 🏆

Mucaw has the right idea! We think you should sign up for early physicals too! If you will be back in the area by August 12th, consider signing up for an early physical so you don’t have to wait on your team’s scheduled physical day! Sign up before all of the spots are full!

But for real though… please do your Sportsware (incoming freshmen and transfers, please do your impact and get your participation release and sickle cell results too)

Today, I signed House Bill 47, making it a requirement to have life-saving AEDs and an emergency action plan for using them in our schools.   I signed the bill at Worthington Kilbourne High School, where soccer player Canen Dickman’s life was saved last year when his coach administered an AED after Canen collapsed.   Representatives from the @NFL and many others joined us in support of the bill, sharing stories of loss and miracles alike. At the end of the day, these devices save lives. Having them on standby to safeguard our children is a must.

Our staff participated in “Stop the Bleed” training today. Cody, who is also a medic in the Army lead us through how to pack wounds, apply pressure to wounds, and apply tourniquets safely. We plan to equip ourselves with the knowledge and skills to keep our athletes safe!

Last but not least, Meet Julie! This is Julie’s 3rd year being certified. She works part time with football and men’s lacrosse. A fun fact about Julie: She also works at the Cleveland Guardians with the mascots Slider and The Hot Dogs! Thanks for all you do Julie!!💜

Meet Gracey! This is Gracey’s first year as a certified athletic trainer. She works with baseball and track & field. A fun fact about Gracey: she did the heptathlon in track for 4 years during undergrad! Thanks for all you do Gracey!!💜

Meet Morgan! This is Morgan’s first year as a certified athletic trainer. She works with football, men’s volleyball, and track & field. A fun fact about Morgan: she coached 8u - 14u hockey for almost 8 years. Thanks for all you do Morgan!!💜

Meet Trey! This is Trey’s first year being certified. He works with wrestling, football, and tennis. A fun fact about Trey: he is undefeated in Jiu Jitsu competitions! Thanks for all you do Trey!

Meet Jacquie! Jacquie has been an athletic trainer for 5 years. She works with women’s volleyball and women’s basketball! A fun fact about Jacquie: She came in 2nd place in a shuffle board tournament when she was 8 Thanks for all you do Jacquie!!💜

Meet Allie! Allie has been an athletic trainer for almost 5 years. She works with women’s soccer, track & field, and cross country! A fun fact about Allie: she’s a fan of broadway musicals! Thanks for all you do Allie!!💜

Meet Cody! Cody has been an athletic trainer for 6 years. He works with football, men’s lacrosse, and swim & dive! A fun fact about Cody: he is a combat medic in the US Army! Thanks for all you do Cody!!

Meet Rachel! Rachel has been an AT for 12 years. She works with men’s basketball, men’s soccer, and softball! She also teaches at Kent State University and is working towards earning her doctorate A fun fact: She received the great teacher award from Mount Union in 2021!

We figured after our short hiatus from social media we would introduce our AT staff! Meet Kelly! Kelly is our head athletic trainer and has been an AT for almost 21 years. A fun fact about Kelly: she’s a world renowned LEGO architect
