Whether or not you fully subscribe to cognitive load theory, there’s one takeaway we can all agree on: clearer slides help pupils think. Too often we overload them with text, busy designs and distracting images. Strip them back. Use white space. Highlight what actually matters. If we want students to focus on the key idea, we need to signal it. How often do you review your slides with this in mind?
