PhD who have exited academia: any regrets?

During my PhD I beat myself up for not solving a problem. My husband said,“Your standing on the edge of human knowledge, looking out into the darkness, and upset that you can’t see what know one else has seen before.” This strikes that same cord. tinyurl.com/y3ca6u5w

In academia, we are reluctant to share our mistakes. Let me start... -forgot to start the PCR machine -prepared an agarose gel without EtBr dye -mixed a protein ladder with samples & ran the western blot A few incredible things I did 🤣🤣 🤦‍♂️, what about you? @AcademicChatter

I really wish the world would let go of the myth that truly talented, visionary, passionate people are all 24/7 laser-focused on their work to the detriment of every other aspect of life and their physical and mental well-being.
