I've noticed that Riftbound decks have a lot of room for high impact 1-of cards. A lot of these cards tend to have diminishing returns, being broken exactly one time and having more than 1 in your hand might be detrimental. Primal Strength is a card I put in this category.

Genuine question to anyone who pays for coaching/discord access with the intention of getting better at Riftbound, is it actually worth it? Was thinking of doing a YT video where I try coaching to answer that question myself and document my experience + progression as a player

@babar21221942 So do you think all the best players of any game in the world, whether it be a sport, video game, card game etc, get good on their own without utilizing any resources like coaching or guidance?

@NackD_ People who buy guides are just lazy. You must improve by yourself by playing. If someone else give you the key you won’t adapt your mind

@NackD_ If paying for a Discord or a Metafy won you a match at an RQ, it’s worth it. Coaching can be viewed the same way. Coaching would be more beneficial than a Metafy because you should get the same info, but you can also ask specific questions the guide might not answer.

@dunctcg @Fiderobombastiq Yeah just a matter of actually drawing it. But also the deramp is pretty painful if I dont have gold active as well. Rumble just struggles against fast decks bc I have to burn a lot of resources to keep up

@NackD_ Regardless of if it is worth it or not, making a video on it would be pretty cool, as long as you also tell the coach beforehand, cause maybe they don't want free vods of their coaching running around (cause it's free) or maybe they do (cause advertisement)

@Fiderobombastiq @NackD_ Falling Star is hard to deal with, but outside of that it's a pretty good Lillia matchup. He pulled no FS Game 2 and I won in like 3 minutes haha, it was fast asf.

I'll answer as someone who considers myself in the upper percentile of player skill: it's very much worth it. I consider myself probably a ~90-95th percentile player. My natural skill and work ethic will usually get me that far in any game I touch. When I played Magic for many years, this was true. Riftbound, so far, has followed the same path. One mistake I made while playing Magic was not understanding the gap between a 95th or even 98th percentile player and the top 1%. The gap between Alanzq and I is probably 5x the gap between me and a brand new player. One thing I told myself when getting back into competitive card games with Riftbound is that I would actively seek out the guidance of those players so that I could figure out how to close the gap. I deeply, deeply regret not doing this when I was playing competitive MTG. This is all to say: if coaching/paid discord access is valuable to a player in my shoes, it is worth leaps and bounds more to the average player.
