I want the people who want Michael Carrick permanently to genuinely imagine this scenario. Premier League on the weekend. Champions League midweek. Another Premier League game. Carabao Cup. Then another league game. Week after week. Now imagine trying to survive that schedule playing this kind of football. Waiting for counter-attacks. No sustained possession. No real structure. Just transitions, moments and reacting. Do people seriously think that’s sustainable at the highest level? And the worrying part is… It’s not even about the players anymore. We have enough technical players to keep the ball for more than 10 seconds. You can argue athleticism all you want, but teams like FC Barcelona, Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain dominate games because of structure and positioning. That comes from the coach. Even if you change the midfielders… Even if you change the attack… The football will still look the same. Because this is the blueprint. And if this is the long-term direction of Manchester United… Then we’re building a team to survive games - not control them.

@Iamrickie25 @utdthroughand @MUFC__Prince Did I say that? He said ‘Amorims mess’. We were doing fine, competing for CL as was the seasons target and he had half the squad missing. We weren’t fighting relegation. Why are you lying? We were 14th when ten hag left and finished 1 place lower..

@Niall2Read @utdthroughand @MUFC__Prince So you want to tell us that is 6th equalling 3rd ? Or where would us go after finishing 6th ? Ten Hag left us 12th and Amorim brought us down to 16th Amorim left us 6th and CARRAS brought us up to 3rd Spot the difference.

SIR MICHEAL CARRICK.
SIR MICHEAL CARRICK.@utdthroughand·
@MUFC__Prince You gave amorim 2 years and saw utter failure, but you question Carrick even when he is still cleaning amorims mess. Now it is about the champions league. He would show what he is got on the job, just like amorim showed us his. MC earned it. With the results so far.

There are obvious flaws in the way we’re playing and it’s not good for the long term at all. But obviously those that are unable to critically think and look past the result will call you a fake fan if you don’t want Carrick. 20/21 all over again. Delaying the inevitable.

@Niall2Read @KingFemi__ What was Amorim’s job? He didn’t even know if he was a head coach or a manager He was sacked because of results but rather the job being too big for him

If you were here during Amorim’s tenure here, you won’t talk down on what Carrick is doing without pre season or 11 new signings.

@terryflewers This might be one of the worst, most delusional takes I’ve ever seen. The mighty Brentford dominated most the game and has had us camped, retreating into our own box at Old Trafford and we were once again living off moments.

Carrick deserves huge credit. That switch to a back 3at half time completely shut Brentford down. Outside of a wondergoal, they had little. That is top-level coaching. This is also a team that has now scored in 22 consecutive Premier League matches, a run not seen since 2013. That is not luck, that is structure, patterns, and belief being drilled into the side. And let’s not forget the noise around him. Doubts, criticism, people questioning everything he does. Yet he keeps delivering, keeps adapting, keeps getting results. People need to start giving him the credit he deserves

That game and result basically encapsulates Carricks tenure perfectly. Performance is bad but we squeak the result by hook or by crook. Brentford have come to our stadium and dominated. It’s just a standard of football that’s really hard to get behind and impossible to enjoy.

Ye winnings great short term but once again visibly the worst football team on the pitch and living off moments. This football is not sustainable. Thiago had an incredibly rare off night.

I’ll keep saying it even if we win every game till the end of the season. Start was brilliant but we’ve gone to shit again since scoring. We cannot be keeping Carrick full time, this football will not be sustainable next season

I LOVE Maguire, Heaven & Yoro but centre back should be right up at the top of Manchester United's priority list. Murillo or Marcos Senesi would be good additions (stay away from van de Ven!). Maybe Myles Lewis-Skelly as a left-back too? (w/ @FlexUTD & @JamieJackson___)
James Ducker@TelegraphDucker

Carrick says centre back “not an area of concern for me at this moment in time” #MUFC plan to run with same 5 CBs next season but De Ligt could force reappraisal if situation doesn’t improve & there’s Martinez’s history Murillo/Van de Ven admired ⬇️ telegraph.co.uk/football/2026/…

Sporting CP are third in the league.. Their first full season without Amorim as manager but fans criticised him after they went on to win the league last season without him despite going 10 or so unbeaten before moving to Man United. That club is nothing without Amorim.

@Niall2Read @badasskachii If it was only data that mattered, Harry Kane would have a Balon Dor. You might get stats but if I get half your stats but win some trophies, I'll win it

@freedomDRCongo @badasskachii I never once said it was only data that mattered? 😂🤦🏻‍♂️ but they’re there for a reason! People get employed thousands of pounds to produce stats, because they give you an indication on performance…

@Niall2Read @UnitedStandMUFC He wasn’t back by the board. And let’s not ignore the fact that the Premier league allowed man city to delay games because they had players with Covid whereas other teams were forced to play without their players that had Covid. This isn’t brought up enough.

@freedomDRCongo @badasskachii What’s the purpose of data then brother? Why is it used if that’s the case? It’s actually the people that use data can explain why it’s relevant. Rather than someone’s opinion being solely based around blind faith in results.

@liamjb23 @UnitedStandMUFC Is once not enough? This situation is literally identical to the ole interim period. Feel good factor, fans clamouring for it, good vibes, it’s identical. But we all know how it ends.
