The day before he killed himself, Hitler tested his cyanide pills on his dog. The dog died in seconds.
By April 1945, Hitler was hiding 8 meters underground in a concrete bunker beneath Berlin. The Soviet army was 500 meters from his door. He was 56. After years of drug injections from his personal doctor, his left hand shook so badly he could barely sign his name. He had not seen daylight in 105 days.
April 20 was his birthday. He went up to the garden behind his headquarters and handed medals to boys from the Hitler Youth who were fighting Soviet tanks. It was the last time he saw the sun.
April 28: Hitler had Eva Braun's brother-in-law Hermann Fegelein, an SS general, shot in the garden for trying to flee Berlin in regular clothes.
April 29, just after midnight: Hitler married his longtime girlfriend Eva Braun. The ceremony was 10 minutes. She started writing her old last name on the marriage certificate, caught herself, and wrote "Hitler" instead. They served champagne afterward.
Later that afternoon, Hitler dictated his will. Then his doctor tested a cyanide pill on his German Shepherd Blondi. Her puppies were shot afterward.
April 30 at 3:30 PM: Hitler bit into a cyanide pill and shot himself in the right temple. Eva took cyanide alone, sitting next to him on the couch.
Their bodies were carried up to the garden, soaked with 200 liters of gasoline (about 4 full car tanks), and set on fire. Soviet soldiers captured the parliament building that same afternoon, 500 meters away.
The next day, Hitler's propaganda chief Joseph Goebbels and his wife Magda poisoned their 6 children in the bunker. Then they walked outside and killed themselves too.
Berlin surrendered 48 hours later. Germany followed within a week. A man who had ruled Germany for 12 years died in a concrete box with his wife of 40 hours and the ashes of his dog.

Do you recall when Thabo Mbeki wanted to be intellectual about HIV?

I saw a video where Neil deGrasse Tyson narrated how racist 19th century anthropologists set up human racial hierarchies with white males at the top of the evolutionary ladder and Blacks and other non whites lower down, still evolving and closer to the apes.
He explained that back then, calling someone a Neanderthal was a straight up insult because Neanderthals were seen as brutish and primitive. But then in the 1990s, once genetic testing became possible, scientists discovered that Europeans carry 1 to 3% Neanderthal DNA while Africans have 0%. Suddenly, research papers started coming out praising how creative, imaginative, and skilled with tools the Neanderthals must have been.
Tyson pointed out it was a complete u-turn of the Neanderthal image that began right around the time they learned this genetic information.
Interesting example on how bias can shape science… and this is true mostly in anthropological research…

@Patriot_S_A The sad part is, to the world, her kids are black.
Even in China.

A South African woman, married to a Chinese national, has indicated that her children will be raised speaking only Mandarin and not isiZulu, her mother tongue.
She explained that, in her understanding of Zulu cultural practices, a woman and her children adopt the husband’s culture after marriage; consequently, she regards her children as Chinese.
She further noted that, despite this, local communities may not fully perceive the children as Chinese. However, she believes prioritising Mandarin will support their integration, particularly as she does not anticipate the family residing in South Africa long term.

Listen to this video. @GovernmentZA politicians have been hindering & interfering in @SAPS work for the longest of time.
Dirty politicians must be rooted out by people of SA.
We can't rely on the same corruption politicians to do this.

The size of the SA economy is about R8 trillion (nominal GDP estimates).
We produce around R7.5 trillion worth of goods and services every year and govt budget is there by R2.3 trillion a year.
Going by what Phakel' Umthakathi said (giving each citizen R1 million. I'll happily leave out the "for the rest of their lives" part because that's pure nonsense that shouldn't even be slightly entertained), then govt would have to spend roughly R60 trillion.
That payout is 8x the size of the economy. To achieve such a thing, you'd need at least 8 years of TOTAL economic output, with government taking almost everything (and that is near impossible).
FBSA economics is weird😅

Right. Fine. Goalposts moved. Some thoughts.
This does not come without heavy consequences, both retrospectively and for the future. The implications are grave.
It is now the DA’s position, and by implication a policy, that Ministers must not be held accountable for tender irregularities in their departments. They are not involved in the procurement process and therefore, failures of oversight regarding whether legal procedures are in place and are being followed by officials do not lie with Ministers. Executive authority and responsibility regarding tender procedures according to the DA, are, then, dead.
This has not been the party’s position, and correctly so. The buck has always stopped at the Minister’s door, regardless of involvement.
And that is what the Constitution requires. It does not matter who, what, when, or how. It is clear. Executive authority requires Ministers to ensure lawful, effective administration through continuous oversight, intervention, and accountability to PREVENT problems, not only act POST-FACTO. That is why the buck stops at their door, and will continue to do so.
Gwarube has, for months, said the DG is a “problem,” we are told. And thina senzeni ngalokho? Sim’khalele? Simenzele i-pity party?
Gwarube knew. Gwarube knew a problem existed. Gwarube did not act, and instead angled for pity.
A DG actively obstructing a Minister from exercising lawful executive functions is no small matter. If the dysfunction was serious enough to be said publicly, it was serious enough to be acted on formally.
Those words and realisation should have been followed by removal: a precautionary suspension, and escalation to the President. It did not. It has not. The DG was allowed to remain in office, and still is.
A precautionary suspension could have meant that a problematic DG would not have overseen the awarding of this tender.
That, my dear, is an oversight and leadership failure. That is executive failure. That is a Gwarube failure. The buck stops at her door. Period. No ifs, whens, or buts.
This cheap spin will not work on me. I’m not buying what is being sold. It’s a polished turd. And I have a nose. Hhay’suka. 🤚🏾
