Ever since WWE introduced the World Heavyweight Title, it’s clearly been presented as the workhorse championship.
Seth set the tone, Priest kept it active, Jey and GUNTHER were always on TV, and now CM Punk has taken it even higher. Every defense feels important, and he’s made the title feel like the top title in the company.
That’s why I don’t think Roman should win it.
Roman brings prestige, no doubt. But this title was created to be defended consistently and be front and center every week. Punk fits that role perfectly right now.
If WWE wants both RAW and SmackDown’s main event scenes to stay strong, Punk walking out of WrestleMania as champion just makes the most sense.
