Early in my PT career, I accidentally trained the athleticism and flow OUT of baseball players… Until I realized: the same neural pathways that take you from lying on your back → walking are the key to unlocking natural athleticism and flow. Masterclass by @bryceharper3

In all my research I did for my feature on the CLA coaching movement, this is the first time I’ve seen a team publicly announce the CLA as their guiding principle in this fashion. It may be because the CLA was relatively unknown to the outside world before our story and teams using it often tried to keep it a secret, but this is a pretty big step forward for the CLA movement. Here’s the story, which includes a section on Alex Sarama’s work that helped transform the Cavs last season. Before he left for the W, he was promoted to assistant coach and was given a bigger role in shaping the Cavs offensive system this year. nytimes.com/athletic/66659…

This is elite coaching “We are trying to play fast when it’s 5 on 5, we can’t do that. We have to manipulate the spacing first” Really good stuff This is how to communicate in the huddle with your team (Via @NBCSCeltics 🎥)

"lack of rest, in addition to increased travel times & distances, the under-resourcing of teams with qualified & experienced staff, and the increasing physical demands, has been connected with the epidemic of major injuries, including ACL tears" abc.net.au/news/2024-06-0…

"When I hear about guys sleeping in their office I wonder what they hell they're doing there. Cause the game ain't that hard. The work will always be there, your kids won't. I tell my coaches, if you miss a recital or little league game... I'll fire you." - Bruce Arians

Many people repeat the statistic that "most children or 70% of children drop out of sports by 13 years of age". To my knowledge, this is based on a study from the 1990s. Does anyone have an updated study?

"...being a second-generation N.B.A. player is becoming almost unremarkable. In 2009, ten players in the league had fathers who’d played for N.B.A. teams; this past season, there were thirty-five." newyorker.com/magazine/2025/…

I walk around the local schools after dinner. There's two youth football teams practicing a couple nights a week. I've seen kids less than 8 years old running for punishment more than once. Why??? If anyone needs coaching it's them! I saw a grown man groan and yell because a child false started in a practice rep and you would've thought the world was ending. Don't use physical exercise as punishment. Teach your athletes. Coach them. Don't just yell and make them hurt because you can't control YOUR emotions.
Jeremy Toohey@Toohey_sp

Running more at practice as punishment has never corrected an in-game mistake. Coaching correction and skill development do.

I coached for 43 seasons. The biggest mistakes I made were not schematic. They were post game right after the heat of the battle comments. Some good and some bad. Both can come back and bite you. Don’t overly praise or criticize. Give everyone some time to breathe and evaluate the film. Good luck this season! ✝️💪🏈
