IMO, @cz_binance deserved to get pardoned. His prosecution was politically motivated and his punishment was disproportionate. He was thrown in jail for failing to maintain an effective compliance program. Bankers have compliance failures all the time and they never get perp walked. They pay fines and go on their way. Crypto shouldn't be held to a double standard. And FWIW, CZ always did right by his customers and onboarded millions around the world into crypto, giving them a shot at financial freedom and a better life. In terms of a level playing field, it's not CZ's fault that the US fucked over our industry at every turn over the last decade. Whatever Binance's violations were, they never would have been an advantage over US crypto companies if every three-letter agency and financial regulator in the US hadn't attacked, hobbled, and stifled US crypto companies every step of the way. The fact that not following the rules was an advantage, not a disadvantage, is an indictment on a decade of failed US policy more than anything.

interestingly, nearly everyone i know from 2013 still hold most of their stack today. many of them increased their initial stack a bit by averaging in during periods of apathy and averaging out in euphoria, and by allocating to quality projects like eth along the way. they’ve only been exiting recently for good as they think the asymmetric upside is behind us. after a decade of this, i now firmly believe that for 99% of ppl owning good assets for 10+ years (and occasionally playing cycles) is the only way to make money in markets.

There’s way more risk than this… For late stage PE companies like SpaceX and OpenAI it is up only so those who do the hip-3 liquidity provision for any meaningful amount of time will just lose their money. The LPs have to bank on a future ventuals airdrop being worth more than the losses they will inevitably incur as blue chip PE continues to trend up. With each new tender offer at higher valuations LPs will get rekt. Any fees generated for LPs from chop will pale in comparison to the massive losses LPs will incur in a long term up only environment.
