@ProfDancy Might have to add it to the ole syllabus.

I just have no desire to give my students an AI assignment. There are way more interesting things to do in a Black politics class. We can talk about the antiBlackness of the tool though. That would be worthwhile.

@willie_agnew Can be helpful, but the factors at play would be the search itself & the committee (both of which can tell you what might be salient to those making the initial decisions), as well as where the position is (dept/school/college). Even better to make impact clear in the statements

If I'm applying to a faculty job, are letters from not-faculty people (nonprofits, policy orgs) about impacts of my work in these spaces helpful? I'm very proud of what I've done in these spaces, but I've heard faculty letters are mainly about getting a prof that readers know.

For Fall 25 I have a (likely TA funded) slot open for an Ind Eng PhD student in “Human Factors”). I want someone who can think through cognitive processes and social structures (racialized) and computing (but you can have some but not all of that then learn) . Please pass along

@UpFromTheCracks Yeah, it’s an interesting place to be most def. I never really did the whole pick up your whole life thing like ppl do and I’m lucky to be in one of those fields that pay you ok comparatively (and I was broke before…so didn’t know to ask for more…)
