According to Creators, who were given information by BHVR, this Jason is an original interpretation sort of like Ghost Face. He is not the same Jason as from the F13 movies, and his lore will probably be changed to reflect that.

Dragonball's fandom was active for decades despite an anime and manga that long ended off VS battles and character analysis, video game fandoms like the Souls games or Halo exist off lore and fan created content etc.
There are plenty of active fandoms where shipping either doesn't or barely exists
