Wouldn’t we all love a situation that geographically, financially, and logistically makes sense to have one high school national championship meet? Any ideas?

@Coachseanmccaff @HornAthletics That’s true and the people putting on the meets what numbers cause it pays the bills. Another issue is states like Alabama had their state meet in April. Hard for those athletes to run well in mid June

@palngji_sunday If a kid doesn’t pay for college. It’s a full. Just remember academic money, you have to keep up your grades. Athletic scholarship you need to keep running fast. NIL… good luck

Everyone’s selling their system. Very few are posting tangible results.

Festival of Miles proves the my point again. If you want to have a successful track meet you need to focus on the high school athletes. They are the ones putting fans in the stands.

@seemstogood Love that idea. Making the event fun is key. Look at minor league baseball.

@RunCCG Take a look at LIV Golf/Top Golf/Bowling/Minor league sports. You have to create an event. Music. Cotton candy. Clowns. Fan participation. Halftime shows. We are so entranced in the sport we forget that it’s a day long event that has gaps to fill.

People complain about the popularity of track, but there are some hard truths we need to look at 1. Why is the sport more popular at the high school level than the pro level? 2. Why is a sport that is well participated at the high school level have so little pro fans?

@GSEhlers Ever been to Penn Relays? Running Lanes? Carolina Distance Festival? Everyone stays around to watch the fast races.

@RunCCG But I’m not sure if it’s about the whole sport or the individual. At a normal high school track meet most athletes aren’t engaged to the meet outside of their own performances. I’d wager less than 10% of attendees are watching every race enthusiastically.

@RunCCG There are so many great “stories” in track and field that might draw fans. If there was an easily accessible weekly track program, that might be a good way to show all the different personalities.

@CountsHuey And no one can be a fan unless they see the product. No one sees pro meets unless it’s a road race

@RunCCG But aren’t high school events drawing mostly family, friends and classmates of the athletes, not necessarily track fans?

@BarbaroActing I gave you data. We are a small group and get more likes, views and follows then every pro group that isn’t bowerman. When we post about our post collegiate/pro runners we get about half our normal likes and views.
