Not enough people talk about the risks of rushing Bitcoin’s quantum “fix”: - PQ signatures are x-times larger than Schnorr - Either block size war 2.0 or <1 TPS - PQC algorithms have a fraction of the battle-testing ECDSA has The cure, rushed, could be worse than the disease.

Bitmex Research, Adam Back, Shinobi, etc... have been excellent bitcoiners, who've dedicated large amounts of their personal time the past 6-8 months patiently educating to the most ignorant plebs on this website why BIP-110 is a terrible idea, why it's dangerous, and why it won't activate, and I think now we are at that point where everybody whose mind can be changed, has already been changed. the debate has grown stale, the people who made their entire identity out to be "bitcoin has failed unless my fork happens" are cringe as fuck, and it's time to start blocking you guys because i'm tired of seeing your ignorant posts on my feed everyday. please make it easier for me to identify who to block by typing your angry replies below: 👇

Yeah, so basically the current prevailing schizo internet theory is that AI nerds have destroyed the internet and created infinite spam. The advertisement goons are now incapable of determining who is a bot and who is an actual human. The advertisement goons no longer want to pay as much to social media networks. Social media networks, in full blown panic of losing potential revenue, decided to lobby governments saying "we gotta protect the kids! ID everyone to protect the kids from pedophiles!". The social media networks know this doesn't really protect kids. But, it does two things (and a third accidentally). 1. They now can identify who is human and who is AI slop machine, or enough to appease the advertisement goons 2. Advertising to children is a general no-no from politicians, or something, so with ID verification they can say with confidence they're not advertising to children because it's been ID verification. Basically, they can weed out the children and focus on advertising to adults 3. The feds can now tell who is human and who is AI slop. This inadvertently helps them with tracking people and serving fresh daily dumps of propaganda, or whatever they want to do. It's a win-win-win for advertisers, social media networks, the government, and any business which does data collections. It fucks over everyone else. Chat, I'm not going to lie to you. This is an extremely good conspiracy schizo theory and I unironically believe it.

Been digging into @glozow's Bitcoin Core contributions using my Orange Dev Tracker, and honestly? The data tells a pretty compelling story. I wanted to test two things: 1: Does constant bullying actually show up in a dev's work? Does it hurt productivity? (h/t @murchandamus for sparking this) 2: Was she actually as prolific as people say? Here's what I found 🧵

In 2013, Larry Summers emailed Epstein "The most important change in the Vatican may not be Pope Benedict XVI sudden retirement but the change in leadership at 'the Institute for Works of Religion,' the Vatican's bank. Because of the Vatican's status as a sovereign country, it is exempt from transparency rules of not only Italy— but of the European Union. This status allows its elite clients to evade any scrutiny in their money transfers."

ATTENTION Do not install this adapted bitcoin software on your machines. It is dangerous and YOU CAN LOSE MONEY this way. The fact that @start9labs promoted this shows that they are irresponsible and you should probably also NOT BUY START9 MACHINES or use their OS.

Bitcoin BIP-110 Reduced Data Temporary Softfork (RDTS) is available for StartOS. How to install 👇 #start9" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">bip110.org/howto/#start9

If you're genuinely worried about quantum computers breaking Bitcoin, start with primary research and the actual cryptography - not Twitter threads from people trying to sell you fear, tokens, or consulting services.

I don't know what this argument here is really about, but Blockstream has contributed to the quantum discussion more than just the paper you mention: - @real_or_random proved post-quantum security of the Taproot commitment scheme (eprint.iacr.org/2025/1307.pdf), which is essential for a Taproot-based upgrade path (groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/c…) - @real_or_random discovered in 2018 that commit-reveal schemes (first discovered by @adam3us) could be applied to obtain post-quantum security (#securely-proving-utxo-ownership-by-revealing-a-sha256-preimage" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">bitcoinops.org/en/newsletters…). This is still the most compact signature scheme but it has other downsides. Variants appear from time to time on the ML. - Reviewed an earlier version of BIP 360, reported three vulnerabilities (groups.google.com/g/bitcoindev/c…). - SHRINCS: 324-byte stateful post-quantum signatures with static backups (delvingbitcoin.org/t/shrincs-324-…)

Believing that you must act, or else Bitcoin will die, is the core symptom of Bitcoin Derangement Syndrome. Follow what you passionately believe in, but don’t let it consume you. And if you need reassurance that not giving in to emotions is the right path, just look at the history of everyone who fell to BDS (Roger Ver probably being the most famous example). In the long run, it's far better to focus on your proof of work than on "fixing" what others are doing.

Functional tests written for this client, are failing. Fuzz tests are failing. Tests are stubbed out with early returns. Release bins were being uploaded before Guix sigs. If you want to run this, wait for a later release candidate.

Not sure what to make of this proposal yet, but attempting to silence it is ridiculous. Allegedly, @ostrom72158 submitted the proposal to the mailing list, but it was censored. So she submitted it to Github, where it has now been rejected for skipping the mailing list.
Claire Ostrom@ostrom72158

I was blocked from the bitcoin repo because I didn't go to the Bitcoin Dev mailing list first, which I was blocked from posting on. I'm being accused of being an AI. I'm not an AI. The proposal is my own. His reply looks to be written by AI.
