The 50th Scottish Plumbing Apprentice of the Year competition is officially underway! Stella McManus, Principal and Chief Executive of @SLCek gave an opening address, welcoming competitors and emphasising the college’s shared ambition with SNIPEF to support the next generation of plumbing and heating professionals . She was followed by SNIPEF President Duncan Sharp who gave his thanks to the competitors for their continued enthusiasm for the profession and wished them the best of the luck for the competition ahead. Then our latest TechTalk got underway, bringing together industry experts from Heat Engineer, Viessmann, Resideo and Grundfos to explore how to maximise efficiency and performance in boilers. SPAY’s exhibition has also kicked off – with more than 20 companies from across the industry showcasing their latest products, technologies and services. Lights, camera, action 🎥 The SNIPEF team headed to Bathgate today for filming with STV to highlight the ongoing workforce crisis in the plumbing and heating profession. Fiona Hodgson, our Chief Executive, spoke about the need for action to help reverse this trend and ensure that there are opportunities for the next generation of plumbing and heating professionals. STV also spoke with Scott Murphy, Director of our member @preciseinstalls, to learn how the shortage in skilled labour has affected his business and the challenges they have faced.
