@Timoldland I’m an EV driver. But I actually think this sounds fab. 90% of my journeys are fine on electric but having that safety net… Interesting! Plus I’ve always liked the look of these…

So this is the car they said they never build - the Lotus Eletre X PHEV version of their EV with a 2.0 i4 turbo engine and two motors. Silly 900+hp number, but interestingly it retains a 70kWh battery, so has an EV only range of over 200 miles, or 750 miles combined. Weighs the same as the EV Eletre too. Battery can be charged at 350+kW too, so 20-80% in 9 minutes. Hopefully this will translate into more sales and will give Lotus a much needed lifeline.

@talkSPORT2 the tax thing on cars - cars are considered a depreciating asset so are not subject to capital gains tax (tax on the increase in value of of an asset). Rare cars do sometimes gain value so can make owners money with no CGT payable

Forgot to do a proper sign-off for what will probably be the best long-term car I will ever have (and the last diesel). Ridiculously comfortable on air and tremendous for my long commute and airport runs. Grew to love Audi’s new interior design and attracted so many compliments

@BBC5tms when I was in Sydney last year on my way to the Brisbane test I had a lovely walk thru the botanical gardens and stopped at Harry’s Cafe De Wheels. It was… a pie.

Early Christmas present: I have taken delivery of this Emira Turbo SE for the next few weeks. ‘Purple Haze’ paint colour looks more Lamborghini than Lotus – proper junior supercar vibes, I think. Anything you want to know?

I’ve developed a crush on the etron GT. They’re depreciated to the sorta reasonable range on some specs. The RS seems to be around $60k which isn’t the worst. V tempting

Aston Martin Vantage Roadster’s fabric roof folds down electrically in 6.8 seconds. Weight is up 60kg versus the coupe, with the springs and anti-roll bars recalibrated to suit. First deliveries are due this summer and the price is £175,000 – £10k more than the coupe.
