I still own a few rental properties in the area. One in Harris Branch and one in Pflugerville and one in South Austin. I will sell the first two when they come up for lease again and sell the Austin property last, because it's next door to one of my daughters and I might live there while I sell the primary. If I live long enough, I plan to leave town, eventually. I also have a lakefront property on LBJ, which is a constant level lake (unlike Travis which fluctuates a lot) and I have the primary in West Austin which has million dollar views. The only other thing I own anymore is my little ranch, which I'll hang on to, afaik. And the storage property at the lake. I might keep that.

@Sofia50020Sofia There was a small airport in Solvang, California that always had a fleet of 58 Chevys for rent. We would fly there in our Piper, rent one to go downtown and buy chocolate. Lotsa fun. That was about 1975.

My father owns a produce brokerage company. He sells +$10m a year in onions a year with a phone, fax machine, and file cabinet. TLDR: - he calls farmers and will buy two or three truckloads of onions - then organizes a truck for pick up - sells the onions to Walmart or some other chain like that. I made a video about it when I was at his office, and on Instagram it got like 3 million views in a week. He was so pumped. And no, he doesn't make $10m/year. The margins are tiny. But its just him + 1 person in office. Put me through college debt free and has always driven a fat Mercedes! Originally, he worked in a grocery store in the produce section. Then had fruit stand on the side of the road. Then did the white collar move and started a brokerage. I was in 4th grade. It was funny because he started the business in summertime, and the AC of the office was expensive, so he used to work barefooted without a shirt and his Docker shorts. It's been like 25 years now, and he's sold over a quarter of a billion dollars' worth of onions. His CRM is a binder. He has two phones, a file cabinet, and everything is done with checks. There's a computer on his desk, but to be honest, it's for when he uses Facebook, YouTube and visiting The Chive. And there's a baby playpen in the office so his co-worker, who he has hired, can bring her baby to work. The video was only 60 seconds long and people loved it because they were shocked that you can build a really good lifestyle with simplicity.

Building my luxury resale business has changed me in ways I never imagined. Somewhere along the way, I became a different version of myself…ironically, one that feels more comfortable than who I used to be. I recently read a book about shifting your mindset that hit me in a profound way, and I’ve decided to share my key takeaways publicly. Perhaps it will help someone else in this massive X void I shout into, but more importantly, it holds me accountable. These are the things I’m shedding: • Letting people misunderstand me instead of over-explaining • Not trying to be likable in rooms where I’m not respected • Remembering that not every opinion deserves my reaction • Not fixing problems that other people created • Not reopening doors I already worked hard to close • Not giving instant access to my time or energy Protecting my peace and my energy isn’t optional. It’s *essential*. As a small business owner and a mom, I’m intentional about who I’m becoming. I’m committed to continuing to evolve into the person I want to be. If you want to follow along @avivafashion11, I’d love to have you here.

On a flight back after 8 days in San Francisco. I’ve been back every year since 2021. City was buzzing this year. Bars and restaurants packed. People walking the streets. Delores Park body to body yesterday. SF is definitely back!

“My life is a disaster.” A previous version of me would have said that without a second thought. Our family is navigating multiple difficult situations simultaneously right now. But you won’t catch me using those words. I’ve learned the hard way that the story you tell yourself about your circumstances is so powerful it can completely alter your reality. I sat on the floor last night in tears, looking at this dog I didn’t realize I loved as much as I do, and realized the fragility of so many things in life. The inconveniences that have come up this week unrelated to our dog have felt huge. Our businesses at a nearly complete stand still. Lots of money going out. Lots of little problems and some big ones. But my life is beautiful. I get to choose to see that. Everything that feels like 1,000 pounds of hard is temporary. I can hold space for grief and hope at the same time. I can feel tired and frustrated, even angry and still find joy looking at my husband and our kids. It’s wild to feel like I’ve made it so far, but in reality, I am it getting started. Despite all the “bad,” I choose to be the good. To the thousands of strangers who have offered prayer and kind words this week… I have received them with an open heart and feel so humbled and grateful. And to the community here that has offered friendship and reflected the best of humanity to me… what a gift you are. I am closer today than I’ve ever been to being exactly who I’m meant to be. Alongside.

Want to know a luxury industry secret from an ex-insider? 👀 Every single luxury brand has meticulously created multiple financial “tiers” of products, and the cheapest tier is almost guaranteed to be the loudest logo driven items. Why you ask? These pieces are designed for the aspirational buyer that has saved up for something that looks like they’ve “made it”. For example, the most financially accessible bags at Louis Vuitton? The classic LV monogram coated canvas. Do you realize that “coated canvas” is literally fabric that is coated in PVC? Add in some basic vachetta leather trim and it’s *easily* one of the highest markups in the industry relative to production cost. Take a look at the price increase history of the classic Neverful MM and remind yourself: it’s PVC coated fabric. 🙄 Here’s the reality check I’m here to remind you of: when you buy a loud logo bag, you’re paying a massive premium to provide free advertising for the brand. You are literally paying them to be a free walking billboard. That’s why “quiet luxury”, a term I reference often when talking about my market trend data, has taken hold. More a mindset shift vs a trend, it’s very “money talks, wealth whispers”-ish. The consumers driving this shift aren’t interested in loud, in your face logos. They’re investing in impeccable craftsmanship, materials, and pieces that speak for themselves…no branding required. And before anyone gets defensive, this doesn’t mean monogram and logos are “bad.” It just means you deserve to know what you’re actually buying into. Whether you’re team logo or team quiet luxury, do yourself a favor and buy *your* dream bag from a reputable luxury reseller like me. After all, saving your hard earned money is a trend we can ALL get behind 😌 Want more luxury insider secrets, or to buy your own dream bag? Follow me @avivafashion11 to watch me build my luxury resale business, one exposed secret at a time 😆
