Police patrols remain in Page Hall and Fir Vale following a series of recent incidents in the area. Earlier this month, five men were arrested after a large fight on Firth Park Road, and there was also a violent incident at Fir Vale School where several pupils and staff were injured. Reports suggest the tensions may be linked to a long-running dispute connected to the Slovak village of Žehra, where rival groups within the same family are involved in a disagreement ahead of local mayoral elections expected later this year. Police say they are aware of the situation and are continuing to monitor the area and work with the community to prevent further trouble.

Police Issue Full Update After Incident at Sheffield School South Yorkshire Police have issued a full update following a disturbance at Fir Vale Academy on Owler Lane earlier today (Thursday 26 February). Officers were called shortly after midday following reports of an altercation between a number of students, which led to wider disorder on the school grounds. Police attended and supported staff as the situation was brought under control. Police say several staff members and students suffered minor injuries, but most did not require medical treatment. One staff member was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening and has since been discharged. Officers have confirmed: • There is no evidence of weapons being used • No arrests have been made at this time • An investigation is ongoing • Pupils were able to leave safely at the end of the school day High-visibility patrols are taking place in the Page Hall area this evening as a precaution. Anyone with information is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting incident number 303 of 26 February 2026.

Sheffield restaurant wins first Michelin star in over a decade ⭐ Sheffield is celebrating a major food milestone after fine-dining restaurant JORO was awarded a Michelin star for 2026 the city’s first since 2015. Head chef Luke French and his wife Stacey Sherwood-French opened the restaurant back in 2017 after taking a huge leap of faith. The couple began in shipping containers at Krynkl in Kelham Island, before moving to a larger home at Oughtibridge Mill on the edge of the Peak District. Their Norse-Japanese inspired tasting menus, using foraged and seasonal ingredients, have since built a national reputation. The journey hasn’t been easy. Luke took no wage in the first year, the business faced uncertainty during lockdowns, and the couple completely reshaped their concept into a tasting-menu experience. Their hard work paid off this year after being invited to the Michelin Guide 2026 ceremony in Dublin, where they were officially awarded the star. 💔 Heartbreak for Local Charity After Goldthorpe Break-In A much-loved local animal charity has been left devastated after their Goldthorpe charity shop was broken into, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage. The charity tin was stolen, but the biggest impact is the repair costs money that should have been helping to rescue, feed and care for vulnerable animals will now have to be spent fixing the premises instead. As a small, community-run organisation, every donation makes a real difference. The team works tirelessly to give neglected and abandoned animals a second chance, and this setback will hit them hard.
