I love kdramas that evolve, not just in plot but in people. The kind that don’t freeze their characters in one perfect version of themselves just to satisfy viewers, but allow them to grow, make mistakes, and sometimes even disappoint us. And that’s exactly what this story does. Watching Yumi hasn’t been just watching a character fall in love it has been watching a woman learn herself. From a place where her love cell was literally shut down after heartbreak, to slowly opening up again, trying, failing, trying again it feels real. We didn’t just watch relationships come and go, we watched her evolve through them. Because in most dramas, the goal is the relationship and happy ending the “endgame.”
But here, the focus is different. It is growth. Healing. Choosing herself, even when love is involved. Yumi is not perfect. She overthinks, she loves deeply, she walked away when she needed to. And somehow, every version of her still feels valid. And don’t even get me started on the cells the way they turned her thoughts, fears, emotions into actual characters? That is such a creative way to show how messy and human we really are inside. At some point, you stop watching it as just a romcom and start seeing it as a reflection of real life how people grow, outgrow relationships, and slowly become who they’re meant to be. That’s why I love kdramas like this. Not because they give me perfect love stories,
but because they show me people becoming better, softer, stronger versions of themselves over time. I also got to watch Kim Go-eun grow as an actress #yumicells3 #yumicells3EP3

- Bazaar, 2026 (Kim Goeun x Kim Jae Won) Regarding his experience playing Shin Soonrok Yumi’s final love interest Kim Jaewon said “At first, it felt like I was the boyfriend being introduced to a beloved daughter’s large family, where everyone is watching closely. I felt like I was that boyfriend standing in front of the whole family. It was an honor to join the final chapter of such a beloved project. Soonrok has this ‘unicorn like younger boyfriend’ image, so there was some pressure, but it was a pleasant kind of pressure.” Reflecting on playing Yumi across three seasons, Kim Goeun said “Yumi marked the beginning of my 30s, it felt like entering a second chapter of my life. I loved being part of a charming drama where I could communicate with these ‘cells,’ and it often made me think, ‘This is what life is like.’ It’s a drama where you can relate to everyday emotions in relationships like thinking, ‘Yeah, that would be annoying,’ or ‘You shouldn’t do that.’ In Season 3, Yumi is in her mid to late 30s, and it reflects thoughts closer to that stage of life, with a different kind of subtlety compared to early 30s. As I’ve aged alongside Yumi, portraying her has become even more interesting. It’s rare in Korea to carry a drama through multiple seasons, so it was a special experience, and now it feels like we’re finally closing a grand chapter.” #YumiCells #YumiCells3 #KimGoeun #KimJaeWon

- Bazaar, 2026 (Kim Goeun x Kim Jae Won) When asked about working with Kim Goeun for the first time, Kim Jaewon said “From our very first meeting, Goeun noona told me it was okay to speak comfortably, so once I did, we quickly became close. On set, there was an atmosphere where if I suggested ten ideas, all ten would be welcomed, which I was really grateful for. It was thanks to her consideration. She never made quick judgments and always asked for my opinion. I learned a lot from her attitude toward acting.” Kim Goeun shared her thoughts on working with her junior co-star (Kim Jae Won) “It was my first time partnering with someone much younger. I kept wondering, ‘If I joke like this, will he take it seriously?’ or ‘Will this come across as a joke?’ When I’m with senior actors, I tend to be playful like the youngest member, but with Jaewon, I thought maybe I should approach him more like a comfortable friend. Since I’ve worked with the director for a long time, both the director and I wanted Jaewon to feel less unfamiliar with the set and become comfortable.” #YumiCells #YumiCells3 #KimGoeun #KimJaeWon

some saying it's okay to watch this without watching previous seasons.... while it's really okay, i just don't think you will understand more of kim yumi's journey and development as well as her cells in that route watching the 3 seasons is the full experience
daldal bakery@yoonjuwoi

the girl in her 30s who gave up on love and then a 25yr old dude who appears out of nowhere and is crazy for her phenomenon is happening in yumi's cells season 3
