Continued hard labour removing roots from the old ballast to level the top path ready for extension, at Hollybrook. With a new usage counter installed nearby on Erlon Lane.

Thanks to Wales & West Utilities for work to restore our path entrance at Axbridge following gas works. Noting the new entrance is easier for mobility users and cargo bikes. More work to follow, securing the gas junction and replanting the area.

Seeding and dead hedge building at Cheddar by volunteers following works over the autumn and winter, in preparation for the growing season. Creating new space to encourage biodiversity 🥰

Great work by Winscombe volunteers who popped through the Shute Shelve tunnel to start clearing around two bench sites to restore the stunning views as two great destination for visitors.

Huge thanks to Mendip Hills NL and Kress UK for supporting our volunteers new battery powered equipment. Following recent obstruction clearance work the blower was v useful in keeping the path clear throughout our work 🥰

Who needs a gym when you’re trying to free a dead tree from a mess of brambles! 🥰 Final session at Cheddar removing the last obstructions and a few dead trees next to the path. Found a new pond, hidden for years and uncovered an abandoned railway crossing gate!

Great to see recently cleared bench sites can become destinations in their own right when the sun comes out ☀️. Where the ground cleared is already allowing hidden flora to flourish. Where in the summer they will be a haven for butterflies and insects, attracting birds 🥰
