Britain has a long history of believing we can lead the world through moral example - it is a peculiar narcissism that believes others will follow us if we simply ‘do the right thing.’ But the rest of the world isn’t turning to us for inspiration. We have some of the highest energy prices in the world. Our energy policy is a mess.
