Even setting aside the funding model problem, the content on Youtube is often more original and more interesting. While you'll never find a period drama or sitcom which requires writers, actors and a production crew - there's a good amount of content which can just be an individual in front of a camera or be produced with a small team. There's one channel which is producing the closest thing in spirit to what Top Gear became, and another with actual car reviews, another which does a better job of horrible history than Horrible Histories did for example - and the possibilities are global. A lot of content on broadcast channels is slop (for example the infinite 'reality tv' shows) that I wouldn't watch even if I was trapped on a deserted island.

YouTube’s reach in Britain now exceeds all BBC channels combined.
The BBC must adapt to the way people consume content today.

@HwangSeong96 @pushsquare The same people complaining about prices are also probably the same people sharing AI generated memes.
English

@pushsquare If component prices (RAM...) stay high, next consoles will inevitably be expensive too. The real conversation should be directed at the component manufacturers and suppliers.
Console makers don't control the silicon costs, they have to work with.

@pushsquare Do I like it? No. Am I surprised? Also no - nobody who pays any attention to chip prices could be. Will it make any difference to me buying one? No. If they drop the disc drive entirely though that would do it.

@AaronBastani Shame he's a useful idiot in charge of an absolute catastrophe waiting to happen.

Regularly polling 2nd, a by-election win, 200,000 plus members and projected by the FT to gain 400+ councillors in May.
Zack Polanski is easily having the best first year of any political leader in recent British history. Probably ever.

I’ve long believed in the power of procurement.
It can strengthen Britain's critical industrial resilience as part of what I call 'securonomics'.
And applying a new 'public interest test' for contracting decisions will strengthen our public services.

@wonderparlour The agencies are wrong, there are no cafes like yours in the UK. Nothing traditional is left. I'll visit when I come to Japan.
English

I reached out to many overseas travel agencies that cater to visitors to Japan, asking whether they would consider including our café as part of their Japan sightseeing itineraries.
Unfortunately, every single agency gave essentially the same response:
“Why would anyone come all the way to Japan just to visit a British-style maid café? At the very least, you should be serving Japanese tea. Hahaha…”
So please, especially if you’re from the UK or another country abroad, come visit our café.

@TheBishF1 I think they don't understand the cycle island, miserable as it is. Not my colour.
English

It's nicer to look at than modern buildings. Modern buildings are almost without exception, bland, ugly, soul crushing things. It's all square angles, sand coloured brick, glass and grey steel. If they are destroyed by a meteorite nobody will miss them, it will simply be an inconvenience until an equally ugly box is created in the same space. At some point in recent decades it feels like architects all got handed a manual on how to create misery, and they follow it to the letter. It all looks the same.
English

@UrbanCourtyard Yes, your images are a great example of the importance quality of public spaces. But for that you don't need the "neo-traditional" facades, imitating old buildings. It's pastiche, feels like a movie set or theme park.

@Ye_Olde_Holborn @WilliamGP79 Was it always illegal? I bought an Amiga doing that. Of course you were less likely to knock on the door of psychopaths 35+ years ago.
