The Tennessee Department of Correction honors Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary Correctional Officer Elmer Jones Henry, who lost his life in the line of duty on March 30, 1972. Officer Henry served the State of Tennessee with honor, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to duty.

This Women’s History Month, TDOC is proud to recognize Haley Sargent, Chief Correctional Counselor at the Northeast Correctional Complex. Sargent leads counseling efforts that connect individuals with the tools and resources they need for successful reentry.

TDOC leadership visited the DeBerry Special Needs Facility to continue important conversations with staff. In the wake of one of TDOC's most difficult moments, the message was clear: safety isn’t a single initiative or policy update. It’s a daily commitment shared by all.

Correctional Officer Dustin Pedigo was tragically killed in the line of duty at the Morgan County Correctional Complex on February 24. Officer Pedigo was deeply committed to his calling to serve and protect the people of Tennessee.
