Something amusingly similar happened to me. Back in 1997 I produced a song containing a very long sample recorded off an old cartoon. For some reason just recently, YouTube began identifying clips of that original cartoon as MY song! I didn't ask for it, but hey I'll take it! 😀

People are feeding classic text into AI detectors and it's being labeled AI, because AI was built on a collation of classic text, so the detector is confusing AI-paraphrased quotes with original human sources. It's like AI labeling "Under Pressure" as a copy of "Ice Ice Baby".

I'm going to have to get used to seeing rap history summarized by young people who learned it from a chronologically detached context, similar to how I learned about jazz or funk. It's just what happens when a cultural innovation endures long enough to become multigenerational.

I ended up doing something like this back in 1999, when I was active on AOL Star Wars chats & boards. I didn't like "Phantom Menace" for many reasons, which I shared. But in opposition to truly irrational attacks by conflict-stoking trolls, I eventually found myself defending it.

I don't care who's favored, who's the underdog, whether they're playing someone else just as highly ranked, I will ALWAYS root against Duke and North Carolina. Hey, I grew up watching the NCAA tournament in the 80s. Hating them came as easy as hating the Yankees, Sixers & Lakers.
