A review of IRS filings revealed that Jeff Bezos paid a true tax rate of less than 1%. Warren Buffet paid less than one-tenth of 1 percent. Elon Musk's true tax rate of 3.27% seems generous in comparison but still pales compared to the percentage that you and I pay.

The labor board's top prosecutor Jennifer Abruzzo just issued a memo arguing that mandatory anti-union ("captive audience") meetings "inherently involve an unlawful threat" and saying she will urge NLRB members to change precedent & "find mandatory meetings of this sort unlawful"
Josh Eidelson@josheidelson

New @BW: Sat down with NLRB's prosecutor Jennifer Abruzzo, who says labor law protects both social justice activism & wearing an anti-"Black Lives Matter" mask; "plenty" of gig staff are employees; & bosses have been abusing NLRB process as a stall tactic bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Hundreds of Nabisco workers — who bake Oreos and Ritz crackers — are on strike for a fair contract. The strike started in Portland, OR, and spread to factories across the country. We spoke to workers on the picket line in Richmond & Portland. Stay tuned for more soon.

Before becoming head of the AFL-CIO, in 1989, as president of United Mine Workers of America, Richard Trumka led a successful 9-month strike against the Pittston Coal Company that resulted in mine workers getting better job security, pensions and benefits. Rest in power.

Whether it’s Amazon warehouse workers in Alabama fighting to unionize or workers at Frito-Lay in Kansas pushing to end mandatory overtime, it’s clear that workers are in desperate need of legislation that will strengthen their power and fight for their rights. #PassTheProAct

Yesterday marked Black Women’s Equal Pay Day, or the day Black women must work into 2021 to finally catch up to what white, non-Hispanic men earned last year. That’s an additional 214 days.
