@CaptainBeezy The social aspect is another thing because people who donate tend to really enjoy when the streamer reacts and even expresses thanks. It is kinda heartbreaking to think about 😞

You can block people individually on most payment platforms people use for donations 💚 so while you can’t stop them on Twitch even if they’re blocks from gifting subs unfortunately you can block them other places. That’s an incredibly sad story and for some people it can become an addiction like gacha or gambling where they’re not thinking about their finances ☹️

I really appreciate seeing people talk about Findom as part of BDSM and how paypigs work. So, that begs the question: are we going to address that Twitch provides the perfect environment for paypigs? If it wasn't gifts on Throne it's gifted subs, donations, and bits. And the streamer isn't even aware they are participating in this PayPiggery™️ Just some food for thought 🧐 Have a pleasant day 💀🤙

There's also what I believe was a year or two ago where someone was donating thousands and because of lack of self control they ended up in financial destitution (I think it was around $160K?). I definitely agree that hard boundaries need set, but it is hard to set those boundaries since there's no "stop donations" option on Twitch. Which wouldn't be a bad feature to add tbh. I will say I definitely have vested interest, but that's because I enjoy being educated since ignorance isn't the best lifestyle choice 💀👌

I did write kind of a ramble about this earlier and have thought about taking my education experience from conventions as a presenter. In the particular note of “overly generous” it’s a style I’d play between two consenting adults. If someone expressed interest in it I would have them create a monthly budget first. A responsible person being the one in “control” would acknowledge their boundaries and create the play to be safe. I’m more concerned with people who don’t know just deciding oh free money and it’s much more than that.

i have absolutely NO idea how to run a DND campaign but i feel like that makes it even better 💀 like imagine a bunch of dinosaur vtubers learning as we go, making everything up, and somehow turning it into a chaotic adventure stream series 🦖 no experience, just vibes and bad decisions would anyone be down to try this with me 👀

If it is any consolation there are many beginner friendly systems that can be explored! And if you are really wanting to get into D&D then definitely finding a DM who will be patient and work with you as you go is worthwhile. Kinda like finding a therapist that is subjecting you to the emotional turmoil of getting attached to fictional characters. And if you are wanting to run then see if a trusted DM can have you see what is happening behind the scenes and even let you take charge at times. It is like a mentorship and is often referred to as Co-DMing or Shadow DMing

A Q&A would probably get enough eyes on the matter that the educational segments would definitely hit home for some folks. I feel ya on this because it feels so clique-y when I see it. Like, I hang with a TON of folks who are "fleshtubers" and they are all crazy talented and hilarious! I've heard on so many sides that it is about the audience not liking it or the avoidance of vtuber drama, but I think over time it is turning into a myth. Still present when you really look though

It's surprising the amount of people that are deterred by just how someone presents themselves on stream. Like. A vtuber is a person behind a character and a facecam streamer just doesn't have a character to be behind. It's not hella deep, but folks treat it like jocks vs theater kids 🤷

I think a way to work into it is having your comms at a price you are comfortable with and stating in your TOS that you are going to be selective on who you pick for your own comfortability. And over time as your financial situation changes you can alter the prices up or down as you see as necessary. I think you are worth more than you advertise, but I also understand the trepidation 💀👌

I just wanted to thank everyone for being so kind on this post. After reading all of the comments I can definitely see how I might be under-charging for my work. But I’m honestly really scared that if I raise my prices, I’ll lose comms in the future. And I’d rather have a few people who I can work with and make something really cool, than have no comms or designs to do at all. Maybe one day 💚

Considering a lot of vtubers will ONLY interact with other vtubers as opposed to exposing their communities to other kinds of streamers/creators? I feel like this definitely needs to be said. It's a weird unspoken rule that I have noticed more and more as I continue streaming and it bugs me that it even exists in the first place. It feels too "clique-y"

That's the wild part. It's usually vtubers that don't want to collab with facecam streamers. Meanwhile, facecam streamers usually don't have a problem collabing with vtubers. Though I can understand the trepidation since what most people see on Twitter about vtubers is a lot of toxic drama so being cautious honestly is encouraged

I personally don't see a problem with it either. It's just a thing I have noticed is an "unspoken rule" that facecam streamers and vtubers don't usually stream together. Though it is usually the vtuber that doesn't want to stream with facecam streamers as opposed to the other way around. From my experience of course 🤷

@MoriCorvyn Might I suggest vdo.ninja? It allows you to have any webcam source used for capture and you can turn that link into an OBS Browser Source so you can have them on your screen while you play! It's the easiest solution I have found anyways 💀🤙

And vice versa! Trust me, if I can figure out how to get your webcam in my OBS without some wacky security issue? I'm down. Though right now I'm still all weird about collabs.
