Another episode has him navigating a new romantic/sexual encounter with dialogue and tension that some viewers called “explicit for network TV.” There are several “morning after” or domestic couple scenes that feel more like a relationship drama than a medical procedural. Many people said it felt like the show was using the hospital setting as a backdrop for the gay romance storyline rather than the other way around. The series also pushes mental health as identity, neurodiversity, and social messaging such as racial bias in healthcare, woven into cases. Critics condemned it. The audience avoided it.
